What games are you playing currently?

I think she's talking to herself. She often makes offhand comments about various things, often to nobody in particular. In this case, it's just her way of telling herself to take it easy.

Btw, I finished the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided DLCs. The first one was so short it felt more like a teaser or demo for the game. The best one was easily the one set at the prison, in fact I found myself imagining the developers starting the game off at the prison or at least some version of it. That mission and the one set at the bank both felt like they should have been part of the game.

Now I'm onto Dishonored 2.

I love the dishonored games.

There's so much freedom of movement even though they are not s huge open world.

I found the Aloy thing a tiny bit immersion breaking this last time as if she was telling me to slow her down, but maybe that's me overthinking it a bit.

I started playing Driftwood and Lonely Mountains: Downhill recently. Both have a similar premise in that the player is attempting to navigate a trail on a machine (longboard or bicycle). One has chill music. Enjoying both.

Playing kaiju fighter Gigabash with all DLC's installed. Can finally do the match up I've been dying to see since around 1975 or so:

Loving this game so far. Hits all the right kaiju spots, with loving tributes to the characters they later managed to get in DLC. Replay and photo mode is wonderful and I've taken *a lot* of screencaps.

On the multiplayer front, still playing Sons Of The Forest.

Oh gods yes. Especially those many deaths in the river ride

I just reached the Hidden world which sees you underground, and my god, the visuals are just stunning, a TR game from these devs using this tech would be ground breaking, just stunning what they have managed to do, and as a example, while a cut scene is playing i am waiting for it to finish, but it was finished and the cgi cut scenes are how this game looks in real time.......just amazing.

Which TR game are you playing? I was referring to the 2013 reboot, also Rise Of The Tomb Raider and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider had stunning graphics.

Hellblade II, the game is just visually stunning, Team Ninja really need to be making TR games after what i have seen here, the underground level i just did was amazing and would have pushed a TR game to new heights, i was actually getting claustrophobic playing it and by the end i was wishing for daylight from somewhere. lol

I've only played the first Hellblade.

^^^If you liked the first then you will enjoy the second, but this time the game devs have produced what in my view is the very first next gen game, as it is visually stunning to a level i have not see on either the PS5 or SX, and i also tried it on the series S, and i can only assume magic is running this game on the series S.

Finished my epic RDR2 replay a couple of weeks back. Moved on to Elden Ring in anticipation of the DLC. Started a new character / game (not NG+); it was fun for a while in Limgrave, but since getting to Liurnia it's turned into a bit of a slog.

I've replayed open world games before - always with a good break between playthroughs, but I've never encountered a disparity in enjoyment as big as this. Very frustrating!

I've got nothing left to play, really. Nothing new, anyway. Worked through my catalogue; still have The Last Of Us and TLOU2 (both remastered) to try out (already played the PS4 versions a couple of years ago). I'm even tempted to boot up Ghost of Tsushima for a third time.

Maybe I just need a fresh experience. Anyone recommend Bloodborne? (good price at the moment).

Maybe.

The one thing that irked me was the puzzle tips - I was enjoying figuring it out for myself, thank you Aloy! GOW: Rangarok was similarly handholding in that regard.

She's not so bad in Zero Dawn but geez I wish there was a way to shut her up in Forbidden West. "Maybe if I move this box"

I had a similar experience but it wasn't my 2nd time replaying ER. This is my 3rd (though thinking about it now, I don't remember if I finished that 2nd playthrough though I'm fairly sure I did) but it's been a while.... This time around it feels more like I'm doing intense workouts in preparation for some grand event. IOW, it feels a lot like work instead of play and I think a lot of that is because it's been too long for it to be an easy re-entry skills wise (so knocking off the rust has a lot of the same difficulty that first playthrough did) but not long enough for the experience to feel like anything more than just prep.

With a game like Elden Ring, I think they should've planned the DLC to release not long after the initial release (3-6 months after - tops - would've been ideal). ER requires a ton of commitment from players and hands us a massive amount of frustration to overcome to achieve our goals and to get that feeling of accomplishment from having come through all these trials but without much of anything in the way of story and limited exploration despite a gorgeous map (ER landscapes can look amazing but if you've been in one dungeon you've been in all of them and the way exploration works is very linear despite being open world (there really is nothing lurking around the next corner besides a monster or enemy waiting to ambush you - certainly not the way you would find in the open worlds Bethesda and Rockstar where items and interesting places, npcs, and events are still being discovered by players).

It makes replaying ER feel more like playing the regular Souls titles and for me that's not a good thing. As much as I loved ER, I've yet to be able to stick with a Souls title and difficulty hasn't had anything to do with it. Also, IDK if this is true for anyone else but playing it through this time without the sense of wonder that the first time instilled or the podcasts I had running the 2nd time around, ER is almost soul crushing in how depressing its world is which makes doing a playthrough as preparation for DLC all the harder (for me anyway). Then again sometimes you're just not in the right frame of mind for a particular game even if you love it (I quit RDR2 my first time trying it and now it's in my top 3 all time).

@jenji120

I appreciate your take. Cheers.

Today I gave it another shot but as much as I love the look of the world and some of the encounters, it's just not clicking. It does feel like work. If I were to isolate why ...

Discovery / sense of wonder. It's an inevitable part of any game replay, unfortunately. Elden Ring in particular does little in the way of hand holding. There was a real imperative to explore and figure things out for yourself. I found it incredibly satisfying, albeit frustrating at times. The second time round, almost every part of the map I explore rekindles my memory.

Story / narrative. I suspect this is where the experience really differs from other open-world titles I've replayed (RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West) and paired with the first point, really impacts the replay value for me. There is no main protagonist to connect with and little in the way of a narrative to hook on to. It is purely about the gameplay & the combat.

Scouring Elden Ring subreddits, many say the replayability comes from experimenting with different builds. I can understand that (and was doing a new build this time round), but many of these players don't seem interested in the exploration / world immersion factor and tend to focus on only getting what they need for their build and speed-running the bosses. That just doesn't appeal to me, sadly.

I wasn't sure if it was Elden Ring or general burnout. I've gone from Witcher 3 + DLCs, Hogwarts Legacy, A Plague Tale Innocence and Requiem, HZW replay (with Burning Shores), Cyberpunk 2077 + DLC, RDR2 replay, now back to Elden Ring (all with a completionist approach). There's a lot of open world stuff packed in there. I tried a bit of TLOU part 1 earlier today and gotta say, it was a lot more satisfying.

Pity I've finally worked through my back catalogue.

Baldurs Gate 3 any good?
I have it, just never bothered to try it yet not sure what to expect.

BG3 has been on my radar. I was looking for a 2nd-hand copy, but none were to be found. I finally discovered there was no physical release for it in NZ (dunno about elsewhere). It's a turn-based RPG mirroring the tabletop Dungeons and Dragons, so far as I know. I have never played D&D so have been a little apprehensive to try it out. From all accounts, it's amazing.

No, it's a digital-only release. They are releasing a premium physical version in limited quantities though, at a premium price. I was surprised too, when I went around searching for it in different stores, only to be told it was only available digitally for such a high-profile release.

It well deserved all the awards it's received. It's really well-thought-out, well-written and excellently acted, with an extremely engaging story, a rich, supremely crafted and highly interconnected world, and a deep gameplay where almost any situation and encounter has several possible ways to resolve, including several different endings for each recruitable main character and options that are only available if one plays a specific character class or race; the game makes it surprisingly easy to feel like every choice actually matters and to actually care for not just the recruitable party members but many of the secondary characters as people too. It pays well not to rush things, and just explore and interact with everything, and most players can find something new on each playthrough. Combat might be frightening at first because of just how many options there are for everything (including using the environment itself), and because many higher-level enemies might require a more complex strategy to defeat them, but they were personally the most exhilarating and in some cases most cathartic boss fights I've ever had, sometimes with even downright hilarious outcomes (even a main villain can slip on ice and fall on his butt, after all). I don't think I can remember playing a game this well-put-together before.

Since it's free, I downloaded and played some MultiVersus this afternoon. I stick to the single player rifts so far, and it's pretty fun. So far I've tried playing as Shaggy (he's your default tutorial character), Tom & Jerry, Rick, and Wonder Woman. I'm not sure yet which character will I'll unlock first once I get enough points, I'm leaning towards Bugs Bunny right now.

What game is this? Full title please? Is it free to play or paid?
