Should Ron Moore re-imagine Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers?

Seriously.

Batman The Animated Series proved that there's an audience for serious cartoons, and Justice League proved that a "team" show could still be done well... so I was wondering ... could a darker, grittier version of the Rescue Rangers work? Would Chip be an emo pissant, still living in his father's shadow and thus still trying to overcome his insecurity, acquiring the nickname "Chip" because he has such a big chip on his shoulder? Would Dale be like Wash from Firefly, or just a sillier Starbuck? What about Gadget? Maybe there's a reason they call her "Gadget"? Or Monterey Jack, the raging aclcholic?

There's so much they could do with the property -- would it work? What do you think? What would YOU do?

Only bad things can come from such a plan, let's hang you. :)

I think what most shows have shown us is that re-imaging sucks. The first show was fine there is no need for a new one.

Making Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers darker? Hell no. Why can't there be superior fun anymore. Why must everything be remastered and maybe have it dark and dreary.

Donald Duck, a bachelor, who lives with his three "nephews" (yeah, right), now reinterpreted by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

I like it.

:guffaw:

This post is so full of win.

It's like what Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers would be like in that alternate dark future episode of Darkwing Duck in which he turned into DarkWarrior Duck.

Oh, and in this new version Zipper isn't real. He's a hallucination that Monterrey Jack has all of the time due to a chip that Dr. Nimbul implanted in his brain.

The BSG approach, with chipmunks. Could work.

The Duck family tree, with its implications of a bizarre form of sexuality where parents and children do not exist, only uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, could be the inspiration for a Caprica-style prequel. It would have to go on HBO to avoid the FCC's wrath, tho.
