    I don't think it'll be meaningless.

For starters, it's no coincidence that it was the ISS Enterprise ferrying refuges. The Mirror Kirk wouldn't do that. But Mirror Spock would. And I think the writers expect us to figure that out. Although, more direct confirmation would be nice.

I do think it will return this season, so maybe some confirmation yet to come. But also the Tantalus Field is aboard and probably related to the Progenitors. It's probably what got the Terran scientist interested.

I'll be honest. They didn't grab me in this episode. They were too ordinary. And what, they wore masks for at least 800 years because they didn't want us to see their two faces or something? Maybe there's more to come. Probably. But so far I'm feeling underwhelmed.

Guess they're replacing some of the old bland bridge crew with new bland bridge crew. No worries though. No one will miss them! :techman:

I'm guessing he'll take them to Fiji . . er to that colony in the Gamma Quadrant rather than face Federation justice.

Sorry, Moll talking about the colony reminds me of Lister talking about Fiji.

Characters with smaller parts will always stand out to me. The fact that people treat them poorly is more frustrating to me and makes them stand out all the more.

    Watched it. Didn't like it.
Why did it have to be the mirror Enterprise? Why not any other constitution class so from any universe? Small universe to the max, all important characters and places by chance are family or families workplace...

Also this shit is 1000 years old. There shouldn't be any lights on anymore, physical decay is real.

The Breen's new suits look great. But by god, they made the Breen's makeup boring.

Also the show suffers really from there not being a second-in-command that could also be a action hero. Yes - Kirk also went on missions. But he didn't jump head first guns blacing into a wormhole full of enemies without a way back.

Spock probably took the tantalus device with him when he became Emperor, but this episode suggests he was killed after starting his reforms.

The Empire still exists (or exists again) in the late 24th century, there is an ISS VoyAger in PRO S2

They showed both versions in DIS and in PIC

I was hoping they were a more exotic species than this, sure. 26 or so years being told they had to live in a frigid environment on Breen and required a life support helmet? Green rubber tatex head with black and white contact lenses was underwhelming. But at least we now know.

Also can I just say, Burnham is really terrible at talking down people.

She could have easily said "Give it to us an we'll put you in the Federation version of witness protection".

But no, instead she was all "You have to go to jail for these unspecified crimes! But if you stop struggling I'll recommend you're put together!". (I say unspecified crimes because the only crime the two have actually committed against the Federation is the time bug that did absolutely no damage to anything.)

It was a decent episode. But I got so excited about seeing the Enterprise in the trailer , that I was a bit let down. Perfect opportunity here to have mirror pike or Paul Wesley as Emperor Tiberius. Or mirror Spock. The only real reason to have the enterprise was so they could save money and film on snw sets. I'm hoping the ISS Enterprise will return later on in the seasons arc. The Breen were pretty cool here, although I wish they never solved the mystery of what they looked like. Rayner is great. I'm really liking him, especially in scenes with Tilly. It was a decent watch, so a 7 from me

Do we know if those are the only types of Breen?

La'k is a Breen! Did not expect that. And interesting to see that the Breen have TWO faces, with one of them being somewhat... liquid? Holographic? See-through? I don't know, but it helps explain why they sided with the Dominion... having a sort of kinship with the Founders. Also helps explain some of the contradictions about the Breen. (Like the 'need' for refrigeration suits, but their homeworld is a pleasant temperature, according to Weyoun. Though it does not explain why Bashir said in "IN PURGATORY'S SHADOW" that the Breen have no blood.) I truly feel bad for the guy.

It's strange... I both love AND hate the Breen reveal. I always wanted to know more about them, but I really loved how mysterious they were. It's definitely an unexpected thing we see with them, having two faces.

I really liked the character scenes. Book's scenes were well done, as were Moll's.

Rayner saying, "Okay, use more words"... I love this guy!

But this episode was just full of contradictions that just didn't help the story, such as...

    1. Wasn't Mirror Saru made into Fancy Feast by Georgiou in season 1? Why would Burnham automatically think it's mirror Saru, whether he became Fancy Feast or not? (If I am misremembering the Kelpian being turned into sashimi was Saru, please let me know.)

    2. Torpedoes already HAVE antimatter in its payload. Why would you need to REPLACE the antimatter with... antimatter?

    3. A Terran warp pod from the 23rd century couldn't be caught by the 32nd century refit Discovery? That just defied belief.

    4. I thought I saw the caption say 2255 was when the I.S.S. Enterprise was taken over by mutineers after the Terran leader did reforms. That implies it was Spock being that leader. Which can't be right, because our Kirk doesn't encounter mirror Spock and inspires him until over a decade later. And obviously, the Enterprise is not lost. So how can that be? (Unless I saw the year incorrectly. If so, please let me know.)

So, instead of bothering to have ANY kind of scenes with Detmer and Owo, they are taken out from the series. Off screen. Perhaps the availability of both of them made it impossible to be present for the season, but it feels like the crew is missing even more parts now.

I'm finding it difficult to judge this. On the one hand, we get some nice character beats. On the other hand, this ship could have been ANYTHING else... it didn't really serve much of a purpose. Obviously, they were trying to save money using standing SNW sets. And while the franchise has done this trick many times, they usually made it more essential to the story than we see here.

I'm going to give this a 7, mainly because of the Breen revelation, this didn't involve time travel, and Rayner. (I probably would have given this a 6 otherwise.)

In S3, the Mirror Universe reality changed so that Saru survived. Looks like those changes stuck.
