Law & Order General Discussion Thread

I've noticed lately that they hardly ever cross over on the One Chicago shows anymore. Amy Morton was on an episode of Chicago Fire a week or 2 ago but they used to do more.

COVID and logistical issues put an end to the frequent crossovers on the Chicago shows, because once a guest star pops a positive test, then both the show that they're guesting on as well as their own show has to go through protocols. Derek Haas has said he'd like to do more crossovers in the future, but there are so many moving parts as well as cost-related issues that it's difficult to make them happen.

They never did a crossover with L&O:UK. I wonder if a Toronto one would be possible?

No idea. She's been a friend of mine for two decades, but she is not the most talented actor to ever walk the planet; keep your head out for a blonde in her 40s with a bob haircut and you'll know her when you see her.

Did she tell you about her experiences on the set? Did she have a good time doing the show?

Do you mean the crossovers with L&O? Or each other?

I haven't watched the Chicago shows much lately but it seems like almost every week they'd mix it up. Paramedics from Fire would turn up on P.D. or Med, doctors from Med would turn up on P.D., etc. Is this what you were talking about?

Probably because 95 percent of UK's episodes were just scripts from Vanilla rewritten to fit the UK's legal system.

Quite unlikely, as Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent (Christ, that's a mouthful of a title) isn't even a Wolf Productions show; the Canadian production companies merely licensed the title.

Still ripping from the headlines though :)

Last weeks episode made me think of galen weston (head of the loblaws which is a big food, grocery & other here and has taken heat for his pay and corporate profits while people struggle to afford) and some bread makers who were busted some years back for price fixing.

It's only going to run ten episodes according to every source I can find.

The lead detective is doing his best Goren impression, but outside of that, its been a decent show.

The latter. The inter-show crossovers on the Chicago shows have slowed significantly ever since the pandemic hit (and even before that, as costs started to increase), and the producers have said zero inter-show crossovers are happening for the rest of this season.

For DC crossovers on the CW, a Flash star appearing on Legends would get paid the full salary they make for one episode of The Flash even if they're only in Legends for 30 seconds. I assume it's the same way with the more expensive networks that pay actors more.

I'm liking the OC arc with the hick drug gang. Not as fun as the Westbrook arc, but close. And it's always cool to see Stephen Lang.

Nice to see Randall at the OC offices! I love his one line to Bell, "Why does it look like I know more than you do?" :guffaw:

Really sucks, though...

OMG, they killed Sam Bashir!

YOU BASTARDS! :(

Absolutely correct. This is the primary reason you don't see characters from Med, Fire and PD showing up on the other shows very often, anymore, because even if a PD character shows up for two scenes in an episode of Med, that actor gets paid their full episode rate. And now that Fire is in its 12th season, PD is in its 11th and Med is on season 9, those cast members have gotten pretty pricey due to bog-standard escalator clauses in their contracts. (And starting with PD's 10th season, Jason Beghe received an executive producer title, so he gets paid even more money.)

I thought Vanilla was really half-baked this week and SVU bored me to tears, but Organized Crime is actually grabbing me, which is the first time it's done so since ... well, ever. As you said, though, it helps when you have talented character actors like Stephen Lang chewing the scenery left and right.

@Timby, I see what you mean about SVU. It bored the shit out of me as well.

I am really, REALLY hoping they're done with this Maddie Flynn arc...

Which UC cop should've been recognized by the bad guys first, Elliot Stabler or Sonny Crockett?

Well, Richard Wheatley did make Stabler go on live television to confess his sins or whatever, which would have basically smoked out Stabler as a potential undercover right then and there.

The lead of FBI: International is leaving after season 3. What is it with the FBI shows and cast turnover?

Also, I tried watching FBI: Most Wanted when Dylan McDermott told over and holy cow is it a bad show.

It's being reported that OC is working on a deal where season 5 would be ten episodes on Peacock. More blood? Skin? Language?

Well, as of the latest SVU...

Rollins wants back on the force, but Benson doesn't have a desk for her. I'm wondering if she might turn up on the Mothership or OC. I admit it'd be kinda fun to see her and Stabler team up.

Guess TPTB are eatin' a little crow about firing KG, huh?

And as for OC:

I KNEW Joe Jr. was mixed up in this Redcoat thing! I fucking KNEW it

I just hope Angus doesn't get whacked in prison. I actually like the guy.

And I also wonder what this thing with Eli is gonna be.

Also in the Mothership:

When the security guard is convicted why doesn't Dixon take in the guy's daughter? Dixon already has a deaf son, who is a friend of the girl. So they would be in an ideal position to take care of the girl. In fact I predict this is exactly what will happen.
