MLB 2024: Baseball is for Everyone (subject to local blackout restrictions)

We had thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday, a winter weather advisory yesterday and a wind advisory today in eastern Iowa, for heaven's sake. Lousy fake spring in the upper Midwest.
Add in the ridiculously warm February we had, at least in the Chicagoland area. It's been a bit of a letdown since then. We had some snow today, but it was too warm (all of 36º) for any of it to stick this time. Tonight's Cubs game could be a rainout.

ETA: Braves at White Schlox has already been PPD, but then their Monday game had rain delays where the Rockies-Cubs game didn't.

Per local press, including the San Francisco Chronicle, the A's are going to announce this week that they will play in Sacramento's AAA ballpark beginning in 2025.

Wait, what?

Are you talking about Sutter Health Field? That holds 14,000 people. Probably more than the attendance at any A's game last year, now that I think about it.

It's actually a nice little ballpark. Across the river in West Sacramento, home of the River Cats. That would be awesome to catch some Angels games there.

Speaking of which, the Angels are in first place in the West, just as I predicted.

:shifty:

Manfred is bending over backward to support a bad owner. Does he not see what's going on in the NHL with the Coyotes?

What happens to the A's after they're in Sacramento? They have no plan. They could be there forever.

The A's better be on a tear by the time they get to Vegas. They don't have the national fanbase to weather bad times in LV, like the Raiders do.

That's the elephant in the room...

So the A's finally have a chance, albeit a slim one, to have a sellout crowd? :guffaw:

God, John Fisher is such a shithead.

"We're excited to be here for the next 3 years, playing in this beautiful ballpark - But also being able to watch some of the greatest players in baseball whether they be Athletics players or Aaron Judge and others launch homeruns out of this most intimate ballpark in all of major league baseball for the next 3 years."

Translation: You won't be able to name a single player on the roster, but you'll see cool stars from other teams!

Dodgers@Cubs, Imanaga and Yamamoto are pitching in different games. A shame, that would have been an epic matchup on so many levels.

Cubs pull off a win in game 1, but didn't make it easy. Hendricks needs to be examined by top men.

So are the Astros, at least so far, which I'm sure a lot of you like. LOL. Sad for me though, but I'm sure I'll live through it. I still got CJ Stroud and the Texans to root for. :)
Personally, I have as much dislike for Manfraud as I do for the Astros, from the cheating scandal. I feel like the Ohtani thing will get swept under the same rug.

Seems like everyone is getting Tommy John these days. Are arms getting more overtaxed now or pitchers/doctors/managers/owners/whoever jumping to it faster for other reasons?
