Spoilers Resident Alien (2020 SyFy)

Poor Harry! A broken heart is always sad. I loved how Asta feels he's like a child. I also loved the General coming by with an ostrich!

Is there a difference between an Ostrich and an Emu? I thought it was an Ostrich too but someone else said it was an Emu.

This was a much better episode than last week. Actually, I think this episode improved last week's episode quite a bit because I felt so bad for Harry and his Broken Heart. The stuff with Kate and the abduction storyline still continues to be incredibly dark, but interesting. Saw the preview to next weeks episode and we are getting a lot of returnees. Can't believe the season is almost over.

An Ostrich is larger (3 times heaver and about 2.5 times taller), lives longer, has more powerful legs and a longer neck. An Ostrich is taller than most people (males 7ft to over 9ft, females 5.5ft to almost 7ft), the full grown Emu (males 4.5ft, females 5ft) is not.

Yeah, Arlo was pretty cool.
Poor Harry, he's really not taking this break up well.
McCalister's way of trying to get Harry to get over Heather was not what I would have expected.
We got some more good stuff with Asta and D'Arcy confronting their issues. I'm hoping they can work through this though, I really enjoy their friendship.
I loved Live and Mike going to confront her grandmother, the woman is pretty horrible.
I'm still confused by how Meredith Garretson as Kate is still only a guest star, she's at least as big a part of the show as Ben, Asta, and D'Arcy at this point.

The episode is usually released earlier than when it airs on Youtube TV for VOD. I watched it, but couldn't get rid of the Audio Description and that unfortunately killed the vibe of the Cat's in the Cradle scene for me. However, I still really liked this episode, especially the banter between Mike, Ben, and Liv in the Car. What a wild scene that was.

Why the hell was this series cancelled? It's the most entertaining thing on TV right now by far and I can't imagine it cost all that much to make.

Why the hell was this series cancelled?
???
My Google research points me to this website which says a renewal or cancellation decision has not yet been made. Though they do note the ratings are lower this season and cancellation is a real possibility.

I'll be sad to see it go if it does indeed get cancelled. But as noted before, SyFy typically only holds onto shows for three seasons these days anyway, so while sad, a cancellation is not altogether unexpected.

Plus, didn't the promo for next week say "season finale" as opposed to "series finale"? That kinda' implies a continuation.

They haven't announced Season 4 yet, but they haven't announced it cancelled yet either.

I think the 8 episode schedule is actually helping this season a lot, and I may look back on Season 2 in a better light. Now that the characters have been developed, we are seeing a tightly knit plot story while still getting some hilarious moments. I'm actually bummed the season will be ending so soon this week.

That itself doesn't necessarily mean anything. Unless it's actually confirmed the show is ending, they just say season finale since it's a statement that is never factually wrong. Even if a cancellation announcement did come after the finale aired, the fact the finale ended up being a series finale doesn't change the fact that it was also a season finale.

Though it is potentially promising that the writers have apparently left the door open for continuation, IE they didn't approach the finale with the intent of ending the series. Still doesn't change the fact that a cancellation announcement could easily come after the finale airs. For precedent take Defiance, for example. The finale of its third season was promoted as a season finale, yet a cancellation announcement came over a month after it aired.

This last episode was pretty great.
Pretty much everything with Ben this week was fantastic, from him & Mike in bed, to his clumsy attempts to spy on Mike & Liv, and his whole noir detective impressive.
The stuff with Harry's kid was pretty good to, especially his big fight with all of the duplicates.
I think him letting Kate keep her memories really shows how much he is actually starting to care.
I look forward to seeing exactly what D'Arcy is plotting with the bomb.

I feel like a half hour was left on the cutting room floor and there were pieces of the episode missing. It was good and I enjoyed it but it’s not my favorite of the three finales. I love that Mike knows about Aliens now.

Enjoyable finale with one hella cliffhanger. We damn well better get a fourth season. One small nitpick, when the Alien Tracker's memories get reawakened and he loses it on Joseph and the soldiers present, McAllister orders her people to kill him, but all they do is open fire on him, resulting in the bullets bouncing off him causing him no harm. Why didn't McAllister have a Kill Command programmed into him when she had him rebuilt as a cyborg?

Also, kind of amusing that two shows this week have us Terry O'Quinn playing a reanimated corpse.

WOW. What a finale!
  • D'arcy finally does something truly unselfish in saving Kate's baby.
  • The babies! It actually broke my heart seeing all of them and knowing all those other women have gone through the same thing Kate has. What the hell do the Greys want with these babies?
  • Kate and Ben - I loved the silent scene of them sharing their experiences with each other. I also loved Ben getting his tracker out and Kate choosing to keep it as a link to her child.
  • Joseph finally realizing he's just cannon fodder and choosing to fight back.
  • The Mantid is Damn Scary. Clancy Brown doing the voice really helps with that. My husband realized right away he was impersonating Harry.
  • Harry and Bridget: Action Heroes! :D
  • What the heck does General McCallister want with a portal?
We damn well better get a season 4!

At least we find out that Mantid Harry doesn't like pie. I'll bet he also doesn't like Pizza either.

What the heck does General McCallister want with a portal?

Reconnoiter the Grey base of operations would be one official reason, unresolved personal issues with the Greys would also be a stong motivation.

As a bonus she will probably find and free Harry and Bridget from the Greys, and get back Peter Bach's son.
