I meant bad news for him. They didn't even use the standard "creative differences" line. He was just kicked out on the spot.

Beau DeMayo has been fired as writer/producer for 'X-Men 97' days before its launch. He's also simultaneously deleted his own social media accounts. Bad news incoming? (He was accused of unpleasant behaviour when he worked on 'The Witcher' I recall.)

My understanding is that Chris Clairmont wanted to write a Magneto redemption storyline. I’d love to see that storyline in this show.

I'm baffled as to why this is being presented as news everywhere, since they've never been part of the movie since it was announced.

Bucky has been a huge part of all Captain America productions, so I understand why that would be a shock. Zero meanwhile. Since he was still alive, seemed like a strong possibility to return.

Now, after Thunderbolts, is that the end of Sebastian Stan's current contract?

Indeed. While I'm not surprised that he's not in it lack to any reference to him being in it, I am disappointed he's absent considering the core nature of their friendship as seen in their show. I'm curious to see how the film avoids having him involved in the story. It might be more understandable/acceptable if Thunderbolts was closer to release but alas.

Yeah, it was pretty clear from the cast announcements Bucky isn't going in it, but it is kinda surprisng since he's been such a big part of the MCU's Captain America's stories so far.

Thunderbolts releases 3 months after Cap 4.

Alright, time to weigh in on all the Marvel news and developments that happened recently.

Fantastic Four Cast.
Brilliant. Easily the best casting for these roles so far. You've got two sexy leads with Pascal and Kirby, they'll draw in the mass audiences. It all depends on the script and director now. Marvel needs this to work, badly. The 60s setting is a good call.

The Marvels is a Massive Failure.
As per Beyondthetrailer, Link The Marvels has now flopped on all fronts. Record low viewership on D+ with streaming Nielson Ratings. So there's no excuses anymore, this film was flatly rejected by mass audiences. The MCU's biggest money loser.

X-Men 97 is Actually Good.
The animation is wonky, still an improvement from the 90s animation. The people behind this show seem to love the 90s version and aren't trying to subvert expectations or remake it into something it is not. Promising start.

Echo Fails to Reverberate.
It dropped all it's episodes at once. It had a place on the charts during the first week due to marketing, then dropped like a stone immediately after. Right off the charts. No legs, no repeat viewership. Audiences checked out. Hopefully this gives Disney the lessons it needs as they are correcting Daredevil.

Madame Web Disaster.
Many predicted this film would be a joke after that utterly ridiculous trailer. I'm still amazed why some on were defending the film after that trailer and hilariously awkward line delivery. I knew a meme was born when that happened. Looks like Sydney Sweeney is going ahead with Barberella after this, so at least something good came out of it.

Marvel 1943 Looks Incredible!
Wow! This is what the video game industry (and Marvel) needs. Black Panther especially, with his epic suit and cape looks so damn regal. Makes you remember how cool the character was and all the potential he has. Hopefully the MCU takes notes.

Eternals 2, Captain Marvel 3 and Ant-Man 4 are Not Happening.
Well no kidding.

When has a 200M+ film that flopped ever been given a sequel? It would make no business sense to continue these franchises and it makes sense that Iger wouldn't want to invest in them at this point. There's probably low confidence from shareholders for these IPs after such losses.

Avengers 5 is No Longer Kang Dynasty.
This is great news. It sounds like Feige is pivoting after Kang was so poorly received. Joanna Robinson mentioned that this was a potential gameplan that they discussed at the Marvel Studios retreat. A new big bad like Doom and Galactus is the way to go. There's still time to set him up effectively.

Captain America 4 Test Screenings. "You gotta do better!"

This is the most recent Marvel news. Seems like it tested poorly and Marvel is aiming for more reshoots. That's a good thing. This movie needs to work because Thunderbolts and other films following will be riding off of it. It's a big one. I wouldn't care if it got delayed (again), if it results in a better film that has more box office potential. 2025 is already a stacked year.

Actually no, it did well on VOD and well on D+ streaming. The Nielson ratings weren't confirmed anywhere valid. And most are admitting it was a good fun movie that was mismarketed.

Same deal here, it didn't drop after the initial viewings. That was the fake image created by the Grifters, but the show was an overall streaming success.

I do love the double standards here, the people watching D+ Marvel kept complaining that they weren't releasing the whole runs in one go like Netflix does but when Marvel finally did that the reaction was "Oh, they're only doing this because they have no faith in the show!"

Fake again, they said they were proceeding with them at the moment, not that they were never ever going to do them.

You gotta do better than an Outrage Culture video. Anyone complaining that Captain America is "too political" has no understanding of the character.

The Nielson ratings weren't confirmed anywhere valid? lol.

What are you even talking about?

The Nielson streaming numbers speak for themselves, and Nielson is a longstanding, industry-trusted outlet. Audiences weren't interested.

Same deal here, it didn't drop after the initial viewings. That was the fake image created by the Grifters, but the show was an overall streaming success.

The Nielson viewership numbers literally show the drop. Where are you getting your information from?

Fake again, they said they were proceeding with them at the moment, not that they were never ever going to do them.

Not preceding with them you mean. It's accurate. It makes no business sense to make sequels to flops.

Iger 'quietly cancelling projects' (as per the Trades) is on point.

That was actually an MCU defender channel, haha.

The Cosmic Wonder.

He is one of the access reviewers that always is invited by Feige to the Red Carpet premieres.

I could totally see mainstream audiences being turned off by Disney's attempts at politics. It's happened quite often with so many recent failed big budget films.

So much so that Iger had to actually acknowledge it to shareholders and promise to "do better:"

True; their series ended with the two being what I assume to be best friends, so one might expect Bucky to show up, or even have a minor reference (that could be possible), but being a cinematic universe, and Wilson's Cap needing to really take on some serious threat on his own (assuming there are no other superhero cameos / anyone acting as a back-up Avenger), he could run into Bucky in anther film--either Cap 5 (here's hoping for that), or another Avengers movie.

Now, after Thunderbolts, is that the end of Sebastian Stan's current contract?

Wasn't he originally contracted to appear in eight movies?

Indeed; it the period were a FF concept would be most powerful in its contrast to life at that period of history, among other creative reasons why this is the best setting for the concept.

Yeah, at this point, the mental gymnastics performed in the attempt to spin The Marvels into anything but a film which was widely rejected for quality reasons is pointless.

Since the Cap end of the MCU was its best without question, all I can do is hope Cap 4 lives up to the best of at least two of the Rogers movies (i.e., the great Cap films)

No, they weren't. People talked about the Nielson ratings but never posted any valid links. It was fake stuff using a name people wouldn't think to check

The Nielson viewership numbers literally show the drop.

They literally didn't. They were consistent.

Where are you getting your information from?

People who actually analyzed the show.

Not preceding with them you mean. It's accurate. It makes no business sense to make sequels to flops.

Tell that to Captain America and Thor, whose first movies really didn't make much money to warrant sequels...or Blade Runner, which bombed and still got a sequel. Or the Thing 1982 which bombed and got a sequel and other media expansions. Or The Shining which got a sequel in Dr Sleep.

Iger 'quietly cancelling projects' (as per the Trades) is on point.

He never said that, he just said they weren't doing sequels immediately.

No, not really. That may be the Rep he's given but he's not an MCU Defender nor some special VIP.

I could totally see mainstream audiences being turned off by Disney's attempts at politics. It's happened quite often with so many recent failed big budget films.

Not really, at all. They haven't had major failures either (including the Marvels, as it was quickly vindicated on Streaming). Anyone who enjoyed Winter Soldier or things like "The Boys" or "Invincible" has no right to complain about politics in stories.

So much so that Iger had to actually acknowledge it to shareholders and promise to "do better:"

Clickbait title. In there, Iger actually says the writers have the right to free speech. Including their "messages", that all stories have always had.

Try again.

I love how the only two sources posted here are YouTube links. Because that makes sense.
