Best Captain?

Not according to anything that's happened on screen.

Did some Pocket author assert that?

Picard had it all, great command presence, excellent tactician, quick on his feet, listens to his crew's opinions but the final decision is his alone. The other 4 can go pretty much in any order. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses. But only Picard balances them out.

While Janeway's my favourite, I'd have to say Picard's the best.

Out of Picard & Sisko………I really don’t know! Picard is a much better diplomat. I think he does a better job of representing the Federation and its interests. But Sisko is a much better military tactician. On the whole I might go with Picard, but only marginally.

Voted for Picard. Even though I like Kirk, there's something about Picard's command style I like. Notice poor Archer has no votes as of the time I posted this reply. I also like Captain Pike almost as much as Kirk, so he and Sisko are, in my book, tied for third. Janeway is definitely better than Archer, IMHO. -- RR

I'm curious to know how you can find Pike almost as good as Kirk after only 1 episode?
