Klingon houses don't have locks on the doors. Nor do they have doorbells. Doors are just there to keep the weather out. Hear me out:
A Klingon would never hide in their home behind a locked door. That is the action of a coward. A Klingon is expected to be the master of their abode, its contents, and their family.
Visitors would be expected to simply walk inside boldly and announce themselves inside the doorway. If they were too cowardly to walk in confidently, they don't deserve to come in. If they sneak in, they deserve to be killed. A wise warrior knows where he is welcome, and doesn't care about being unwelcome in a place he wants to go.
If a Klingon is too weak to protect his house from a thief or an enemy entering, he doesn't deserve to have that house. If he is so poorly vigilant and blind that he is unaware of someone entering, he is likewise a weakling and a fool and deserves anything that happens.
Two examples of this:
Picard visits Khalest in Sins of the Father. He goes up to her door and presses a control to open it. There is no ringer and she doesn't invite him in. He simply walks in and calls out her name.
Picard visits the Duras sisters in Redemption (IIRC) and again, just walks into their house from outdoors.
