The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Funny the reason I watched baywatch was because I my parents divorced and I knew no one who's parents where divorced. So I could connect with Hoby. And next thing a lifeguard was killed by a shark. Well things are different when you are 10

I enjoyed Baywatch when it was on. It wasn't for the attractive ladies but that was a bonus for 19 year old me.

I never watched any of the follow ups.

What is weird I probably saw Pamela Anderson more in that show V.I.P than on Baywatch. Curious to as how many people even remember that show.

With the success of Dune, how soon before studios take the wrong lesson away from it and green light $200 million remakes of Krull, Lifeforce, The Ice Pirates, Saturn 3 and Metalstorm?

See there's potential to do a much better (yet probably far less enjoyable) version of Lifeforce

V.I.P. was one of those weird action shows toward the end of the first-run syndication era that was deliberately over the top and campy to make up for the lack of budget, like She Spies, Cleopatra 2525 and Jack of All Trades.

Never saw She Spies. Didn't even know that was a show. But I also loved Cleopatra 2525 and Jack of All Trades. Especially Jack of All Trades. Bruce Campbell is a legit nerd God. Don't forget "Deadly Games." A computer programer creates a video game were characters are based off real people in his life and now they come out in the real world and try and kill him. LeVar Burton was in one episode were he was someone trying to kill him with spreadsheets or something and was based off a old boss off the main character.

If one wants I went and looked it up and one can watch 'Deadly Games" entire first and last season on Youtube. Not only that but it looks pretty good as well. Not sure if it is in HD but it doesn't look like it was transferred over from a old dying VCR tape.

The studio that made Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel are also making Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, and Pinocchio Unstrung. And after that.... Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.

Another live-action Popeye is in the works. Whisper it, but I actually really like the Robin Williams one directed by Robert Altman.

I saw Popeye three times on a double bill with Galaxy Express 999 when it came out in theaters. I own the soundtrack because it's written by Harry Nilsson, who is one of my favorite musical artists. I don't understand the hate for it. I think it's perfectly cast and the location work on the island of Malta adds to its charm.
