Contest: ENTER January/February Challenge - Stand-Off

The new year brought a small sensation: all the contestants of the last challenge won. Fittingly, the theme for this challenge is "Stand-Off". Any crew, any time in the Trekiverse.

Deadline for entering is February 29.

Serendipitously, the next episode in The Vulcan involves the Vulcan standing-off against an armada of ten-thousand ships, Well, maybe only nine-thousand, eight-hundred and two. I don't know, I haven't counted them yet. Anyhow, just a little tweeking of my ideas can emphasize the stand-off a little more.

I haven't been producing much of anything lately, but maybe I'll get back to it with this deadline.

I really want to create an original ship and crew, but for some reason, it's easier to make original characters and settings when I have characters I'm familiar with to write about.

I really want to create an original ship and crew, but for some reason, it's easier to make original characters and settings when I have characters I'm familiar with to write about.

It is best to write about what you know. Maybe think about your own life's experiences and translate them into an analogous Trekverse version.

For example, let's say you have experience as a bank teller and therefor, understand the business and service structure of a branch bank. Now imagine a trekverse mobile space commissary or supply ship, maybe something outside of starfleet, a private endeavor. Your ship's compliment might include characters that have their bank branch employee counterparts. The action could take place around some self-important, self-entitled Starfleet officer trying to force your private crew to capitulate and expedite the delivery of goods that are expensive and rare.

This, of course, is just an example. Any personally experienced tale can be translated into Roddenberry's world. Maybe Bones wants to take out a bank loan in a world where money has been retired.

I know you will make it imaginative and fun.
