Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

So it looks like this movie has met the same completely changed in the editing room fate that befell Morbius.

The original plot, which involved ensuring Peter gets born, has been removed, with Adam Scott as Ben and Emma Roberts as his mother, now barely appearing in it.
:rommie:

Now,is Madame Web SUPPOSED to be a team of SPider Women? Or just the best idea they could come up with?

Dakota Johnson kinda flubbed a question from Jake Hamilton (Entertainment reporter at Fox 32 CHicago with Jake's Takes) where he asked if she was looking forward to interacting with spiderman later. And she eventually stated how she liked that this was a standalone feature.

Rotten Tomatoes is just a tool, and one I've generally been fine with and find useful on occasion. Sure there are outliers, but I can't say I've seen many (if any) sub 50% movies that I didn't think were awful. Sometimes you can find an entertainingly awful film, but glancing at a rotten tomatoes score, even if it doesn't dissuade me, has never really done me any wrong, and has certainly kept me from watching some garbage (or at least waiting until certain movies are on TV/a streaming service I have/available at the public library for free to watch some stuff).

I honestly find people that complain about it to be a bit ridiculous. Its a website that takes reviews and puts them together to say if they're more positive or negative, there is nothing inherently wrong with that and if you don't like it you can ignore it. That said the fan percentage is usually worthless because of review bombing.

.

If the reviews are to be believed
there are no spider-women in this film in the way the trailers suggest. They appear in costume in a flashback in opening and at end in a look at future but not at all in the main bit of film.
.

The other oddity about the film and time period is
they seem to have changed from 90s to early 00s in post-production via some ADR and a few things they have CGI'd in

As was pointed out to me earlier in this thread, that does not seem to be the case. Apparently there is a 2003-era poster seen in the set photos from the very first leaks.

So we hold Kevin Feige responsible for the MCU,

Previously for the DCFU it was supposed ot be Geoff Johns as Chief Creative Officer, but we hold Zack Snyder for the creative direction of the DCFU but Walter Hamada as the executive in charge, and now we hold David Zaslav responsible for the demise of DCFU related all ending, and now setting up the DCOU.... WIth Peter Safran and James Gunn as the creative heads of it.

WHo do we blame/credit over at SOny?

Is there a timeline (like between Raimi & Tobey leaving, and then AMazing failing, and then the rise of Tom Holland... and now 2024)?

Who do we blame/credit over at Sony?

There isn't just one person.

Though, bizarrely I see people blaming Amy Pascal even though she has nothing to do with this (or Morbius).

I would love to one day hear the reasoning behind cutting the actual main plot out of 'Madam Web', just leaving the b-plot and necessitating having to redub a lot of the villain's dialogue to try and have it make sense.

Amy Pascal is the only name i recall hearing associated with Sony executives (from the e-mail leaks, and maybe some press releases)?

Not having specific people maybe is what keeps Sony from continually screwing this up??

You keep telling us what's a useless metric for judging the general opinion on a film. How about you tell us what you think a useful metric is?
