Keanu Reeves might have not been a huge star yet, but Laurance Fishburne had already been in quite a few big movies by the time he did The Matrix. But it was a completely original story as far as I can tell, with no preexisting source material, and wasn't part of a franchise or series. So it fits that way, and it's probably arguable if Lawrence Fishburne was a big enough name to draw in a big audience. I'm trying not to be quite as strict with some of my criteria now.
