What are you watching???

I showed the 1954 CAINE MUTINY then the 1974 TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE to my neighbor. She got so excited near the end of PELHAM that I actually imitated Leslie Nielsen....pretending to shake and slap her.:borg:

Agreed. I thought the Minstrel was also great when he assumed command during the storm.

Heh. The Minstrel. Holy Typecasting, Batman!

But, seriously, yeah, he was good. And Fred McMurray was used to perfect effect.
You start out the movie thinking it's good old Steve Douglas from My Three Sons and that he's one of the good guys looking out for the crew and only realize as the film goes on that he's the actual villain of the whole thing.

The Curse S1 finale.

I'm almost at a loss for words.

The entire show has had a Lynchian air to it, an unsettling nature (especially in it's music/sound design) following three people utterly disconnected from reality, faking lives for themselves they can't earn. But the final 30 minutes feel like something from S3 of Twin Peaks - absurd, shocking, revelatory, mysterious, ludicrous... And just sits with you, like a squatter.

Hugo - almost

Masters of the Air: Part Three
I also watched that last night. Seems AppleTV+ is dropping the new episodes Thursday night at 9:00pm (EST), which is kind of nice since I usually have to wait unit Friday after work to watch.

At any rate, excellent episode. FUBAR doesn't even begin to describe what those souls had to go through. I'll be watching this again, probably Saturday when Mrs. Q2 is at work so that I can exercise our surround sound system while re-watching... (That way I can avoid the inevitable "Turn it down, it's too loud!" argument.. ;) ) 8.75/10

Edit to add: I've also been binge watching the first season of HALO over on P+ in preparation for the 2nd. season dropping next week. Looks like it will be the first two episodes dropping on Feb. 8th.

That's why he's my alternate Oscars choice for Best Supporting Actor that year. He beat out Raymond Burr and two others from THE SEVEN SAMURAI. Possibly Ferrer as well; I forget the fifth slot at the moment.

Dopesick

Power watched 6 episodes in one sitting.

A bit thick on the melodrama at times, but gets across the sheer weight of impact the drug had, especially in Appalachia, and driven by wonderful performances all round.

Propulsive viewing.

And Dr Richard is such an effective villain in his quiet, pernicious ways

Hugo - not addictive at all

The mission to Africa was led by then Colonel Curtis Lemay. The details of the actual mission are on Wikipedia.
