News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Though Simon Pegg seemed to hold an odd belief that the changes rippled both ways for some reason. Kind of like the whole spaghetti thing from The Flash. Link for anyone who hasn't seen it, which based on box office receipts is probably a lot of people:
Apparently the Kelvinverse prequel scribe was one of the many uncredited writers of the Flash film.

A successor show to DS9 needn’t be a slavish sequel like Picard Season 3, reuniting all the surviving cast. It could be a spiritual successor, perhaps focusing on a Starfleet mission to Cardassia after the Dominion War.

There are plenty of ways to go if a good writer came with a strong vision.
Indeed, it could very easily be set on the station but with a new crew and denizens aboard. Who knows, it could even be a brand new station also named Deep Space Nine, like they did in the novels. And yes, I'm sure they could bring back a few of the DS9 cast for cameos or guest appearances.

I don't think you'd even need to set it on the station, given the cost and complexity that rebuilding Ops or the Promenade would entail. Possibly it could be done now with partially virtual sets.

Nog's absence can be hand-waived away by his occupation in Starfleet (maybe even make him a Captain like they did in STO) - perhaps have him and his crew succumb to the whole transporter-virus thing they established in PIC S4, and Odo is permanently involved with the Great Link and continues to send intel back to Starfleet from the former Dominion (hinted at by Worf in PIC).

Nog and his crew don’t even have to succumb to the Borg virus from PIC. They could just be exploring uncharted space beyond Cardassia and Bajor and be on an 8-year mission. Or exploring space in and around the Alpha Quadrant-Gamma Quadrant border. A simple mention about what Nog's crew are doing, and leave it at that.

Odo can remain a part of the Great Link, but there can be a tribute to him, if Jake has a cat or some other pet named after Odo.

PIC S1 and S2 provide an alternative to the reunion of S3. Simply have various surviving cast guest star for an episode or two throughout the season and then move on.

25% is tantamount to throwing a dart at a board with different possibilities of what might happen and hope they'll be right some days.

The reason the 25% thing had some traction was because it was actually came from someone who worked on the show. He just didn't know why it was a thing and just speculated on it, and certain people took his speculation as gospel.

There is also a piece of concept art for the DSC Enterprise with a note talking about something not being 25% different enough on it.

So it was a real thing, just not for the reasons those people think.

The long and short of it is Star Trek Legacy IS happening, that a deal has been signed with Amazon to pay for 30% of the costs, in exchange for rights to air it outside of the US, and that season 1 will air in late 2025 BEFORE the Picard/TNG movie, which ties into it, which should air in early 2026.

He doesn't count this as rumour, its straight up fact according him and will be announced some time in the early summer this year. Its supposed to be a really big event.

I'll remind folks hos contact in Paramount is so good he knew about the WB Paramount merger talks before anyone else.

So.... let me get this straight.

Some dickhead on YouTube says it's gonna happen, we just won't hear about it for months? But he's in the know, of course, and only he can bring you this breaking news. Not any of the big time Hollywood reporter types...... Only him and his channel with less than 30k subscribers.

Because he knows a guy.

:guffaw:

Doubt this specific is real.

But also...they're absolutely brain dead if they don't make Legacy, or something similar.

My hot take, based on observations of discussions i've seen/heard from cast and crew and some speculation... they were planning on doing another PIC-era show, which was going to be more of a Voyager reunion. I think it played a part in Prodigy going away... they used a bunch of Voyager stuff, but now realized they don't want to be beholden to that for a live action reunion, so tried to just kind of sweep it under the table.

It backfired. THEN, Picard S3 happened and the fans started clamoring for Legacy. Their plans for the Voyager live action reunion somewhat backfired too...

They went back to the drawing board to retool what would have been the Voyager show into Legacy, and then... the writers strike happened.

No "I know a guy here", just observation.

Look, I'd really like this to be true, but even other YouTubers have called this guy out for misinformation.

Apparently he's spent years talking about how Stargate is just about to come back

Dude he scooped the main stream media on the Paramount WB merger talks by a MONTH, he's not some random, he has both official and unofficial contacts, this isn't giant freaking robot, he's legit, not dubious source.

Which youtubers were those?

Again he was right about the WB Paramount merger.

There have been rumors of a Paramount merger for years. There are only so many studios who could afford to do that. Disney, Apple, Warner Bros. etc.

He made a guess. Call it an educated guess, if it makes you feel better.

Typical Youtube and not worth the time.

Is the speculation just trying to will in in to reality?

It is a rumor being passed around until someone with the power to confirm it, does. It'll get made or it won't, I don't need clickbait during the inbetween.

I'm thinking it's more about gaining attention and subscribers.
Probably, as well as wanting to feel in the know.

I don't see a reason to trust random YouTubers about Star Trek.

Exactly this. It will happen, or not. No video is going to "make it happen."

That's not how Hollywood works.

This the same Sci Trek that claimed to have an exclusive scoop on a Stargate revival being imminent a year ago?

This belongs in the Dubious Sources thread, as does everything else being reported by Sci Trek.

He's always been clear on the fact that A) the strike caused problems and B) there is a lot of argueing at Amazon MGM studios about what approach to take, so nothing was firmed, its always been in the rumour catogory (except that they were planning to do sonething with Stargate, in this case Amazon had gotten in touch with his channel and some other Stargate Fan channels officially, not rumours or secret even).
