The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

I want to laugh at this being rebooted again but I did the same about the TV series and it was fantastic.

Edit: oh wait shit that was The Exorcist (which I think is also getting rebooted again?) series. So I can freely laugh at this. I had no idea of this. A whole movie about knocking up a nun who doesn't want to be a nun. I think I saw this online...

The first season of The Exorcist was excellent, but I lost interest in the second season. It just didn't work for me. There was a new Exorcist movie last year, but I think it kind of fizzled at the box office.

Last I heard it wasn't a remake but a new adaptation of the books, which don't shsre much in common with the movies beyond nsmes.

Sure, which is why they are carrying Gerard Butler again, in the same role. To distance themselves from the existing massively successful franchise. Still a reboot/remake.

There are loads of “non-canon” ones as the Holmes aficionados call them. I personally like the Laurie R. King books, beginning with the Beekeeper’s Apprentice, featuring an older Holmes and pairing him off with a teenage girl called Mary Russell. But there are all sorts of takes on him - one of the first ones I remember reading was Dr Jekyll and Mr Holmes, while he has also taken on Dracula and even the Martians of HG Wells’s novels.
Laurie R. King's series is excellent! I also like Nicholas Meyer's Holmes novels (though I've only read the first two, The Seven-Per-Cent Solution and The West End Horror), and while I haven't read them, I did hear great things about the three Mycroft Holmes novels co-written by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Well, the original is 22 years old, so I suspect, if they're bringing back original cast members, 28 months might seem like a stretch, age-wise.

Ah, I didn’t see that and thought that this might be like the sequel which had a mostly (or entirely?) different cast.

Of course, Cillian Murphy doesn’t really age like the rest of us anyway!

Young Sheldon's Older Brother will not be the title, but it will be the premise of the spinoff that CBS ordered.

I'm eager for Young Sheldon's Distant British Relation Via 3 Marriages Living In New Orleans So Everyone Can Have Funny Accents And Occasionally Gators Show Up.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a new Jurassic Park movie is in the works. David Koepp, who wrote the original script, is in the process of writing it and it's being shopped around to directors. Universal is eyeing a Summer 2025 release date.

John Boyega is taking over Denzel Washington's role in a TV series prequel to The Book of Eli, set 30 years before the movie which is either during or after the apocalyptic event.
