I've never flown first class. I got upgraded for free once to business as I was travelling by myself & bought my ticket early and they had a business class seat nobody had taken. It was a substantial difference.

I've often considered upgrading for the long haul flights but they're so expensive, I could make another flight for the difference!

My sister has flown first class (even the pods) a bunch as they have a ridiculous number of air miles from her husband's work.

Fortunately it's also a lot easier (thanks to airlines' mobile apps) to get a new itinerary if one of your flights is cancelled.

That happened to me this summer when I flew home from Boston. There was a hurricane going up the East Coast and my first flight was cancelled. So I did a few taps on the app and got a whole new itinerary. Didn't even have to talk to anyone.

Took less time than it did for the cab driver to get to the hotel.

I mean, you never want to hear about a cancelled flight - especially not at 4:30 AM when you're standing in the hotel lobby checking out - but these apps make it a HELL of a lot easier to deal with.

Stupid cab driver only took cash though. Good thing I had some for emergencies. I could have taken an Uber but I didn't know if I could get a decent driver (especially an Uber Black) that early in the morning...and the subway wasn't yet running...

Unpopular opinion but I had fun watching the film The Core

I was today years old when I learned that the Chicago Blackhawks were named after a real person (sort of).

The founder of the team named it after an Army division he served with in WWII. That division was in turn named for a real person, Chief Black Hawk.

As I said in the frustration thread, the Blackhawks could save a lot of controversy by changing their logo - to an actual black hawk. I saw a logo like that once. And drawn by a native artist, to boot!

I think much of this controversy is aggravated by sheer ego.

I'm watching a Premier League game right now (Man City v. Sheffield). I think it's really cool the way soccer stadiums have that ribbon board on the field.

I wonder why the NFL doesn't do something like that. One would think the NFL would jump at the chance to make even more money.

I think much of this controversy is aggravated by sheer ego.

I can certainly see why native people are pissed about team names like that. I can hardly blame them for wanting a few changes made. Especially when the names are so obviously offensive (like 'Redskins').

And I REALLY hate that ing 'tomahawk chop'.

Sure, I don't blame them either.

But, people get so entrenched over it it becomes absurdly tribal. (No pun intended).

We have addressed this in my area even at the High School team name level…like many other situations, people here have very strong attitudes and perspectives on the name changes.

I'm waiting for the Trojans, Vikings, Spartans, Vandals, to protest around my area.

Though Bantams are strangely quiet.

They might get rid of some of the imagery, but I don't see teams like the Blackhawks, Braves, Chiefs, etc. changing their names. Those are all real words, not obviously racist shit like Redskins or mistakes like Indians.

Especially in the thing about Columbus.
