Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

What's the professional term for taking a department of 8 workers & one managing supervisor & "reallocating" the titles so now it's a supervisor, a manager, a director, a coordinator, an educator, a facilitator, & 3 workers... and things have never run worse?
I believe it's called "giving everyone inflated job titles to make them feel better about their pointless jobs."

I remember when businesses had Personnel departments. Now it's called Human Resources, which makes it sound like they keep an inventory of spare body parts.

Bulk cooking day for lunches and meals when I don't feel like cooking. Shepherds pie (massive and individual) with lentils to cut the beef and cauliflower to cut the potatoes, soup, vegan chili, pulled pork. A roast yesterday as well. Been a lot of cooking.

Just read an article about something called microchimerism, the existence of one person's DNA cells being found among a separate individual's DNA cells, like one might expect to find in the case of an organ transplant, but interestingly, it occurs naturally during pregnancy. It would seem that mothers & their fetuses have a bidirectional exchange of DNA, and as such, when the child is male and possesses the male Y chromosomes, those too are being bidirectionally exchanged and retained with the mother, for what appears to be subsequent decades. So a male fetus is literally transferring genetic material to a mother from her male mate. That'd be a new one on me. :vulcan:

Can your memory play tricks on you?

I remember in the 80s having a crush on one of my sisters friends who went to a different highschool. My memory of that is she and all her friends used to wear a blue uniform dress but they all wore them a size smaller so they were very tight....

I'm wondering if that is just me being wishful and my mind is playing tricks on how I remembered that period in time.

Memory is cataclysmically unreliable in every detail except one. It reliably insulates you from unpleasant or unflattering truths

Memory can absoLUTly be unreliable. I have a Crystal Clear memory of something that happened that was very traumatic from when I was 9…trouble is, it did not happen anywhere near the way it unfolded in my Crystal Clear memory!

I'm getting nostalgic for Braniff and all those funky colors it had for its planes.

Damn, I'm old. :sigh:

Right there witcha!
Plus, People Express!!!

Plus, People Express!!!

Or, as I used to call them, People's Distress.

Really sucks that there are only FOUR decent airlines now. Airline mergers suck.

(I don't count those cheap-ass substitutes like Spirit or Allegiant or whatever. I like to pretend they don't exist. And I sure as hell won't FLY with them. For me, it's United all the way)

I remember the Bingo! :bolian:

I've said this in the Maple Leaf Lounge thread but (since we're on the subject of airlines) I'll repeat it here...

Last May I flew to Montréal, and my connecting flight was on Air Canada. The flight attendant was passing out little plates of cheese to everyone in first class. And I swear I am not making this up...this woman had a 25-minute discussion with a passenger over what kind of WINE should go with the cheese. (I was sitting directly across from the guy. I just stared, fishlike, the whole time.) I'm like, that is the most French thing I have ever seen in my life. :guffaw:

I actually think I heard The Monkees singing Riu Riu Chiu a couple of weeks ago.

I've only heard the Apollo's Fire version.

Excellent!
I know exACTly what you are saying!

I love flying first class, BTW. (I don't spend a lot of money at home, so when I fly, I like to treat myself.) I can't go back to coach. I am so damn spoiled.

I mean, it's win-win all the way. You get dibs on overhead space, you get to board (and leave) first, you actually have decent seats, and even the food is good.

Tickets aren't cheap, but as I said I am not a big spender when I'm at home. Flying is one of the few times I spend a fair amount.

AgreedAgreedAgreedAgreed!

When I worked in the Middle East , it was such a different Experience than what we have, Domestically!!!

GodJesus I miss that Treatment!!!

Gross?
Sacrilege!!!…
OK, it’s still in this area and I just had it, recently…
…Gross!!!
