Paramount and WBD in merger discussions

Which would be the worst thing ever and both fanbases would hate.

Oh, I never said Trek vs Wars would be any good. Just that they would do it.

The idea of the Enterprise leading a squad of X-Wings into battle would be too hard to pass up.

I am all for anything that fixes what now is known as the sh*tty Paramount app.
QFT. And it seems to get worse every time I watch something. Currently, audio narration is turned on and nothing I've tried (and no solution I've found on the Internet) has fixed it.

How are you watching Paramount+? I had the same problem with an Amazon Fire Stick trying to watch STRANGE ANGEL, where trying to change the audio track had no impac. Tried instead on my Android TV and it worked.

Probably the best option is to go through Amazon if you already have Prime.

I've never had problems with Paramount+ on my PC, but I've heard others having issues while watching it by other means.

Good job that excellent Road Home animated film got made to tie a neat bow on top of the Babylon 5 franchise, because I imagine Star Trek suddenly becoming a Warner property is really bad news for JMS going forward.

I watch on the Apple TV, and have had no major issues, nothing a simple reboot wouldn't fix.

Oh I have noticed it won't keep my position between web and app. Say I watch something partly on my PC web browser then go to finish it on my TV, it will be under my watched list, but I'll have to fast forward to where I stopped.

I've had no issues with the Roku Paramount+ app.

Generally I agree, although lately there's been a glitch advancing to the next episode. Easy workaround, so I don't worry too much. But overall, I find P+ to be one of the better functioning apps on my Roku.

Don't get me started on AMC+

I also saw a different article that states that WBD is also interested in NBCUniversal, and the Paramount news is to force NBC to also come to the table. They're a similar fit as Paramount, but not saddled with $15B of debt, so probably a better target for WBD.

Which is stupid, as Comcast allegedly has nearly $100B in debt. Whereas Paramount and WBD have half that debt, combined.

A lot of concerns over this deal seem to boil down as to whether or not Zaslav will cancel the current lot of Trek shows/movie in the can/in the works (DIS S5, SNW S3, LD S5, S31, SFA) for a tax write off. And if it impacts Legacy being greenlit.

I don’t see negative with a Paramount/WBD deal. Trek might head to HBO, and Trek might head back to Crave in Canada, seeing as Crave is the distributor for WBD in the country.

And any concerns of a more adult Trek over family friendly trek that comes with a merger… we’ve already seen snippets of what’s possible for adult Star Trek with DIS S1 and PIC S1. Being on HBO though means the writing has to be good.

Or maybe they’ll give him just as many meaningful moments they gave Mayweather.

Whoever the heck he/that was. I still remember Syme from 1984, but he too was a Tyroc-type in the end.

Which would be the worst thing ever and both fanbases would hate.

They would, because both franchise fans would want to come out in a superior position, and they'd alienate at least 45 percent of the target audience no matter what.

I've never read the JLA-AVENGERS crossover yet. I wanted it badly when it was first cancelled and was resentful enough to develop a ''you had your chance'' attitude at the comic companies when it was finally completed. This is not to denigrate George Perez in any way whatsoever. But I'll assume that the published version had a ton of draws between characters so Marvel and DC wouldn't be classified as second best?

It's occurring to me at this exact moment that the only way for a TREK/WARS mashup to work is if both sides rib their opponents GALAXY QUEST-style.....without cribbing from GALAXY QUEST's now-classic lines.

Someone skipped the last season of Game of Thrones, I see...

Someone thinks someone else did not watch the final season of GoT, even though they did. and so does not know what they are talking about, I see.

One terrible season of GoT, or everything Westworld after S1, does not discount that that HBO is synonymous with quality.

This deal does not offer positives for production of Star Trek. Warner is in active money saving mode, at the expense of productions. Projects shut down or barely promoted.

Everyone is in money saving mode. Best case scenario is that WBD lets the current shows complete their run.

If we get more Trek under such a deal, it will be on a much smaller scale.

Is that really so bad? It also means quality control is high.
