Star Trek passings

Sadly, I believe we are down to 1 living director, 2 living writers and zero living composers for TOS.

114 actors (with speaking roles) alive out of 401. Youngest actor with speaking part is 64. Amazingly, only 3 TOS actors died so far this year!! That's crazy since the average age must be early 80s for the surviving actors.

Well, older actors arguably abuse less of the hard-stuff substances, which reflects on their comparative longevity.

Which director's still kicking, Grant?

Is this Pam Ferdin, Caesar Belli, or one of the kids from Miri? Or did the other boy from ATCSL have a line, I don't remember?
At least 2 of the kids from And the Children Shall Lead are both 64. Pam Ferdin (Feb 4, 1959) and Brian Tochi (May 2, 1959). The kids in the episode all spoke and held hands to summon Gorgan (Melvin Belli).
Brian Tochi, as an adult, was in TNG Episode Night Terrors as ensign Lin.

4 actors with speaking parts were born in 1959 and one non-speaking.
pamela Ferdin -- ATCSL
phil Morris (NS) -- Miri
Clint Howard -- Corbomite
Brian Tochi -- ATCSL
Kellie Flanagan --Miri (youngest)

The baby from Friday's Child is the youngest person to appear on the show but no one seems to know who was the child.

Assuming the baby was born in 1967 when the episode was shot they would be 56 years old.

Ferdin and Tochi were both in the 1977 Saturday morning show Space Academy.

In addition to Gerrold and Carabatsos, Norman Spinrad, Judy Burns and Chet Richards are still with us. So, five TOS writers are alive as of 12-22-23 for sure.

And the only one I'm not sure about is Joyce Muskat.

Another actor we missed, I believe. Michael Childers passed in 2022, age of 78. He played 'Strode' in Star Trek Enterprise's episode 'Carpenter Street'.

I'm a big fan of his work. I really liked his performances in Here Come the Brides (watched it all) and in Starsky & Hutch (watched it all). I also liked him Magnum Force with Dirty Harry. Rest in Peace.

And the 1979 Salem's Lot.

He was one of the dwindling number of "famous" TOS guest actors still living.

Another actor we missed. Geno Silva passed in 2020, age of 72. He played 'Senator Vrax' in Star Trek Enterprise's episode 'The Aenar'.

A little clarity on Harv Selsby from TOS. For a long time it was thought that he was the non-speaking guard knocked out in the cell in Cloud Minders. At the same time the guard who spoke just before the captive guy jumps to his death was a mystery. Memory Alpha corrected that to show Selsby -- who WAS credited was the guard who talked and the other guy was just a random uncredited stunt man. Selsby is alive at age 85.
