Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Got a bunch of packages so I opened them and set them off to the side. When I was going through them and sorting them out later, I couldn't find one item. Looked everywhere and nothing. Did it possibly get dropped off at the wrong house? Nope, the delivery person took a picture and it's of my porch. Turns out I had thrown it into the recycle pile without opening it first.

I just read a book that originated as fan fiction. I like fan fiction so I figured it would be cool. But… it’s a sexy fanfic about an actual person, not a character, and as it turns out, that feels icky to me.

I knew an officer in one of the classes ahead of me at the Academy with the last name of Ensign. He made it all the way to Captain (O-6) before retiring…

We also had an Admiral who’s last name was Ames, first name Fred and middle initial of ‘L’.

Of the ‘Old School’ variety, he didn’t pull any punches when dressing you down for an error or infraction, so you would have the pleasure of feeling the ‘FLAmes’.

(He enjoyed the nickname so much that he would sign emails/messages with ‘F.L.Ames Sends.)

Cheers,

Oh god poor child

Someone needs to stop those parents. My mother-in-law worked in a Catholic hospital and she told me that a new mother wanted to name her new daughter Placenta because she had heard that during labor and delivery and thought it sounded pretty. Her nurse (a nun) said absolutely not! So the lucky kid was not named Placenta.
Also, a coworker of mine said he had an Aunt Velveeta. I had a Great Aunt Alpha Omega. So, unfortunate names abound.

So, had a recent conversation with a new coworker about my philosophy in clinical work, and the concept of balance came up. Strangely, a friend shared this video about lessons from a serial killer.

It discusses one of my biggest musing on humanity, especially modern humanity and the tendency to regard ourselves as better than our previous generations, but we rarely acknowledge the capacity we have for great evil. I found it fascinating the idea of balance in making choices that are more positive and now dwelling on the negative choices.

Link.

I finally made it home after 3 and a half weeks in Reno with the Parents. I'm really looking forward to a quiet Christmas.

I also was able to take my car into the shop after someone backed into me at an intersection and the repair work is over $5500. Thankfully Insurance is paying that. I got a rental, a Kia K5, and it's a nice car. It's Car Play actually works, something I can't say for mine. My only regret on buying mine was finding out the Car Play would be unusable 2 years after I bought the car. :(

Is a curry with meatballs called meatball curry or ball curry because for my whole life in our family we've always called them ball curries?

Anyway I just made my first one with a bit of sibling help and it turned out great.

And now this stupid song is stuck in my head so I must torture all of you as well

Rain thunder and lightning outside well that's messed up my plans for today I was going to go out in the morning. How random is the weather?

My sister, who lives on the other side of the world, randomly ran into someone we went to Highs School with.

Reminded me of running into a university roommate in New Zealand.
