Spoilers Andor season one

For whatever reason, A.V. Club didn't include Best Directing nominations, along with other categories...and Andor got several more:

Outstanding Directing ("Rix Road")
Outstanding Cinematography ("Rix Road")
Outstanding Music Composition ("Rix Road")
Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music
Outstanding Sound Editing ("The Eye")
Outstanding Special Visual Effects

I guess I just figured now it's over, it'll get the 'Return of the King' "oh shit, we almost forgot about this franchise!" award treatment.
Oh, if only so Rhea Seehorn could finally get her Emmy.

But that didn't happen for Hugh Laurie or Martin Sheen so I don't have any faith in that regard.

Have read snipets about there being such exceptions here and there recently - mainly on TV Line and similiar, tough not specificly for Andor.

Regardless I'm not sure if we'll find out soon specifically regarding Andor with Star Wars IP owner Disney being a big player in the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) vs the writers and acting talent.

UK-US productions aren't usually covered under SAG, is this true?
What I've heard is that SAG actors working in Britain need to sign an Equity contract in order to work in Britain. And the terms of the Equity contract state they need to continue working until completion of the project or else face legal action. This is the reason why House of the Dragon is continuing to film after the Strike started.

It's complicated. Trade union laws over here are unusually restrictive (to put it mildly) and what foreign unions legally can and can't do while operating here, even under agreement with domestic unions is highly conditional.

I love this video. I just found it today.

Beautiful blend and editing of both Rogue One and Andor S1 there - really enjoyed watching that video :techman:

(and pleasing to see so many other quality videos of a similar nature online for Andor too - as well as insightful and informative review and discussion type content too)

Uh... am I missing something? He doesn't need to say he's playing Ezra, we saw him playing Ezra.

Does he have any additional insights, such as the wetness of water?

I think he was saying that tongue in cheek, and more importantly was now able to have the opportunity to thank the cast and crew of the series since the strike has ended.

Not to be that guy but this is the Andor thread?
WHOOPS. My brain saw the A but apprently not the rest

He couldn't say anything before because of the Strike
Maybe he (or his PR agent) had this written before the strike, ready to go.

I've just finished my second run through of Andor and blimey, I enjoyed it even more. Can see me rewatching this over and over again. Such a wonderful show and such a wonderful evolution of Andor's character.

Couple of things I noticed in the final episode which I don't think I picked up first time around.

Firstly am I right in thinking Andor gains access to the hotel via the tunnel Maarva was talking about earlier in the series?

Secondly, I love that Brasso starts laying out Imperials using the brick made of Maarva's ashes.

Couple of other questions for people.

Do you think anyone else actually made it off of Narkina 5 other than Andor and Melshi?

And did anyone else pick up a vibe that went beyond cousins between Mon and Vel?

It's not impossible, but the odds aren't very good. Cassian & Melshi literally avoided recapture by hanging on for dear life by the tips of their fingers, and basically lucked into a ride offworld in what seems like a fairly depopulated landscape.

From a story perspective though, I think what's most important is that so far as they know, they're the only ones that made it out. If any others managed it; they likely never found out.
And did anyone else pick up a vibe that went beyond cousins between Mon and Vel?
Like what? I mean I guess they felt a little more like siblings than cousins in terms of closeness and shared childhood experiances, but that's really splitting hairs.

Re Mon and Vel I think it's the way Vel parrots Cinta's line about "The rebellion comes first, we take what's left" when Mon suggests she's missed her. There's also the way they look at each other during dinner when. I think I am seeing something that's not there but I know I'm not the only one who thinks there's a deeper bond than 'cousins'. I know there's a fan theory that Vel is actually Mon's daughter, which even I think is a stretch. As @fireproof78 says, maybe it is as simple as a shared secret and a shared hatred of the Empire.

Vel parroting Cinta to Mon is clearly meant to be more about her relationship with Cinta than her relationship with Mon.
Mostly though, it tells us that despite what she aspires to be; Vel is still very much a follower, not a leader. This was a pretty consistant thread throughout the season, and stands in stark contrast to Cassian's arc of going from self-interested loner, to . . . not necessarily the leader, but the one that keeps a group together AND supports the leader. It's what he did with Kino on Narkina 5, and it's what he did with Jyn on Scarif.

So yeah, I think you're very much barking up the wrong tree if you're implying what I think you're implying.

I don't think Vel is a bad leader per se, she marshalled her team on Aldani well, managed personality clashes and the introduction of a new team member late in the day. There are levels of leadership, is she Mon or Luthen, no, is she a perfectly capable team/squad leader? Probably. Her major flaw is placing her feelings for Cinta above her dedication to the cause, and I wonder if that will prove her undoing in season 2 (assuming Faye Marsay is back which I'm presuming she is)
