Spoilers Andor season one

Finally got around to watching this. Of all the projects that were announced, I had absolutely no interest in this and didn't see how they could make it interesting. I love Rogue One and didn't want to see some silly prequel. I was so very wrong. This show is amazing.

You're definitely not alone in this. I wasn't that fussed before I started watching it but blimey!

The Honest trailer for Andor is a hoot because it basically makes the same point. "Nobody asked for this but it's the best thing they've done in years"

And we all await in terror for when Andor delivers it's versions of 'Move Along Home' and 'Profit and Lace'.

Seriously though; I don't see much of a comparison to either of those beyond "it's the slightly more serious/less pulpy one of the bunch".

Star Wars' answer to "Star Trek Deep Space Nine"? :wtf: I don't even consider that show as the best of Trek, even if it had the potential to be just that. As for Season Two of "Andor", I hope it will an improvement over Season One, just as Season Two of "Loki" was an improvement over Season One for me.

No one will be happier than me if Andor's second season is better than the first. That Loki's second season worked at all was down to the chemistry of the cast because narratively it was all over the place and there seemed to be about enough plot for one or two episodes stretched to six.

Andor's entire run seems to have been plotted out well in advance, so I'm not concerned about a sudden disappointing directionlessness ala 'Loki'.
If anything I think what people are more likely to complain about is the ramping up of the pace, since they're going to be covering 3-4 ish years in just one season.

Yes I do wonder if it'll have the same slow burn as the first season, and whether the time jumps will work or will jar, given the quality of the writing on S1 I'm trusting it will work just fine.

That makes sense and it's what I'm expecting, although I won't be surprised if there's a thread connecting them.

I do wonder if the notion of his search for his sister will crop up again or whether that's done with now.

If handled well, however, this could be a really good thing. All killer, no filler.

I think that's pretty much done. Maarva said it was just a fantasy, and that nobody made it off that planet alive. Indeed the point of that thread was to show Cassian's change from selfish, inward looking pursuits to selflessly fighting for a cause bigger than him.
The Cassian we saw in 'Rogue One' doesn't feel like a person that's had a happy reunion with a long lost sibling. Indeed one might even go so far as to presume that part of what he sees in Jyn is something of the sister he never found. It would if nothing else rather re-contextualise that final embrace on the beach as more familial and not just camaraderie (no, it was never a romantic thing; people really need to drop that idea!)
