Some updates. This film has been officially given a Cinemascore that's the lowest for the MCU, tied with financial failures like Ant-Man 3 and Eternals. Link
It's also tracking lower than The Flash O.W.
So it looks like the general audience has spoken, and voted with their wallets.
The good news is this could be a potential turning point for Marvel Studios. They've hit rock bottom, so they have time to turn things around with the majority of their slate delayed to 2025, and massive reshoots ahead.
This also is historic. One of the biggest box office declines from original film to sequel. Captain Marvel had a billion dollar WW audience, yet the majority didn't seem to turn up for more of Carol Danvers.

I saw the film yesterday with my brother and I really liked it (my brother thought it was okay). My favorite MCU film? No. Perfect? No. Enjoyable? Very much so.
The first half of the film was a bit confusing with quick edits and switching, but once the three female leads were onscreen with each other, the film really gelled. I can't help but agree with one review that said the film felt more like an extended extra episode of Ms. Marvel with special guest stars - which is fine by me since I loved the series.
Loved the Flerkens (and the creative use of them); Aladna; filling-in the gaps of and resolving the Supreme Intelligence story; realizing that despite her powers, Carol Danvers is only human and not perfect; Iman Vellani's performance.
It's a shame the misogynists and racists are going to kill the box office on this one, and I suspect Marvel Studios and the industry will take away the wrong lessons from this film's box office problems.

There will probably be a third movie but it will be a team up with a male superhero.
I think you're wrong (and I only marginally like the MCU, as I've previously made clear).
There will eventually be follow-up to the narrative threads that this movie set up; it might come in the form of projects that aren't led by the characters of Carol, Kamala, and/or Monica and it might take a while, but it will happen.
Same thing goes for the Eternals and the lingering threads left by that film.
I wouldn't bet on a third movie at this point.

At a 250M + budget (confirmed by Variety), this film is shaping up to be Marvel Studios' biggest financial failure.
Deadpool 3 is the only Marvel Studios film to release next year, so there's some room to right the ship.
The film is as tremendously fun as I hoped it would be, moving at a neckbreak speed and with a level of zaniness that felt ripped straight from the comics. That was especially true in the opening act and I loved how it just jumped straight into the action, never letting up with all of the body swapping, chaotically bouncing from frame to frame.
But most importantly, I loved how it leaned heavily on the themes of family, both natural and found, and that they'll always be with you no matter what. I particularly liked how Kamala's relationship with her family was in direct response to how Carol kept her distance from Monica out of fear and how she misunderstood how families work, even found ones.
As much as I do love the film, I freely admit it's not without its flaws. There are some peculiar editing choices throughout, where certain transitions felt disjointed and awkward without the deliberate comic book feeling that most of act one had.
I was also disappointed that Dar-Benn has joined the ranks of weak MCU villains. I had hoped she would've proved to be a formidable foe for Carol but in the end, she was a one-note vengeance character who refused redemption when offered to her. A part of me wishes the film had focused more on the rips into spacetime as the primary antagonist but that would've gone against the MCU grain, I suppose. I did like the idea of Dar-Benn stealing aspects of planets for the sake of Hala, even if it doesn't make a lick of scientific sense (comic science sense however...).
And now the cameos.
I had seen a few people mention Young Avengers so I was unfortunately primed to Kate's appearance but it was still a fun, silly scene, reflecting Fury's first appearance. I imagine people are either going to either love or hate that scene with no middle ground.
I did not expect Valkyrie to pop up to help out with the Skrulls so that was a lovely surprise, even if the moment did feel a little awkwardly added. Still, I'm always happy to see more Tessa Thompson.
I figured Monica landed in some familiar parallel universe right away...but I never thought we'd get to see Kelsey Grammar's Beast once again! And this time, his makeup is much better than it was in Days of Future Past. I also loved the twist of Maria as Binary who doesn't know Monica at all.
I cannot wait for the further adventures of Carol, Kamala, and Monica.

Not surprising at all.
Are they aware enough to turn things around--or will they foolishly double-down, blame the audience, and push ahead with this current wave of underwhelming-to-awful (with very few exceptions) Marvel movies and TV series? I feel they will take the doubling-down approach, rather than admit their idea of superhero productions (which have next to no connection in tone or delivery as the first Phase-and-a-half of the MCU) is not what audiences want to support with hours of their lives?
What a record to set.
Despite certain parts of CM's journey to find her stolen life being interesting in the first film, I'm seriously doubting anyone--with an objective mind--can say her debut was the foundation for interest in additional stories. Her two co-leads certainly have not captured widespread public interest, so one must wonder what Marvel was thinking in approaching a CM sequel in this manner (aside from the usual MCU Easter Eggs which are more important than the film it appears in), when they had no indicators that it would be embraced by more than the MCU die-hards?
I attribute a lot of the success of the first one with it falling between Infinity and Endgame, and the way it was touted as a 'must-see' before the biggest cinematic event of the MCU. No hate, but TBH I probably would have skipped the first one if it wasn't for that pre-Endgame hype.
I’m not sure about this one. In nautical terms the editing is ‘choppy waters’. But the few spare character beats are nicely done. Could have done with an extra 20 minutes to let some things breathe and less cut away to ‘comedy’ segways.

Looks like it's going to hit at the Low end of the predictions.

...and I just realized why we got this particular scene: Because of Little Woods, Nia DeCosta's debut film that starred Thompson, which everyone should go watch.
There is a lot to like in this movie. Carol's aloofness gets more perspective, Kamala and her family are adorable (a few Whitwicky vibes), and the interplay between the four leads is great.
All the complaints about the casting being woke is just bull. They set up these characters to be here together and their team up felt organic, and not forced.
There were a few missed beats here and there. I don't think they did a great job of building dramatic tension for example. But the story kept Carol's overpoweredness in check in a clever way and I really enjoyed the twist at the end.

Seeing it tomorrow at the BFI IMAX, the biggest screen in the UK, where I've seen almost every MCU movie on opening weekend and they've always been completely sold out. As of checking two minutes ago, the screening I`m going to is 65‰ empty and it is not the sort of place that gets casual walk ins. (The other ones tomorrow aren't much better either.)
I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's a shame that unless Word of Mouth or some other aspect increases overall box office, this one won't do so well. Saw it at 1:00 p.m. today, and a 400 seat theater had about 35 people in it.
One of the more enjoyable Marvel movies. Nice mix of action, laughs, and I agree it did a lot to humanize the character of Carol Danvers / Ms. Marvel.

I haven't bothered watching any trailers so the whole sequence with the Furkin kittens eating the space station crew so they could pile all the kittens into an escape pod had me laughing my ass off.
The planet of Broadway musical singers had me laughing too. And I did also laugh at the line when Monica Rambau said, "Hey the king understands us without singing?"
And the response from Ms Marvel was, "Yeah, he's bilingual..."
