pretty much 18 years already that its been a long time since ive seen both Defiance and Falling Skies when they were on TNT and the Sy Fy channel.

is Defiance even out for DVD or blu ray these days?

Do you mean 8 years since they ended? 2015 for both shows.

I thought Defiance was a good show, but Falling Skies was all sorts of bad, especially the star child, what they did with Pope and how the final resolution in the series finale.

They've both been on Blu-ray for a while. Defiance individually and Falling Skies individually and a complete series box set. They also have individual seasons on DVD.

I enjoyed both when they were on but promptly forgot most everything after I finished them.

From what I recall Defiance had a lot of potential and grew more organically, while Falling Skies seemed to reinvent itself every season as yet another alien race appeared out of nowhere. @Aragorn re Pope
did he revert to bad guy mode in the end after morphing into more of an anti hero?

The best things about Defiance were probably Tony Curran and Jaime Murray as the Tarrs, they were both fantastic. I used to love Doc Yewll as well.

Suspect if I were ever to re-watch either one it'd be Defiance.

more than frikkin 8 for cripes sake. guess Defiance started back in 2013. thats still a long time since the show was on Sy Fy Channel. i wish Sy Fy Channel would do a marathon of that show like theye been doing with Warehouse 13 and Eureka which they did last year

Falling Skies i remember alot about the story and characters.

Defiance i forgot half of what went on in the show lol. I know Graham Greene and Linda Hamilton were on the show

I never cared for Falling Skies. Granted, I only watched the first two episodes before giving up. In those episodes, I found it was too much "tell, don't show." That is, the characters seemed to spend more time talking about things that happened, rather than showing us what happened. The comment I remember making about it was it felt like I was turning my TV on for a radio play.

Defiance I enjoyed quite a bit, though much of it is slipping from memory these days.

Also less than "frikkin" 18 "for cripes sake."

I remember I started both of these shows but I didn't got the distance in either of them. I did get further in Falling Skies and found it enjoyable enough but not so much that I have any intention of rewatching it and finding out how it actually ends!

Falling Skies started really well but then just seemed to collapse under its own weight, with characters suddenly changing personality for no reason and plot twists that were a bit cringe-worthy.

Defiance was good but not great. I watched every episode but now I can barely remember it.

Falling Skies started out so promising, and I loved Pope, but it went into Tropeland the longer it went. I think I gave up before the end.

I adored Defiance from the moment Joshua and Arisa sang "Jackson" in the pickup truck. I loved the various aliens and had a serious crush on Jaime Murray, even though her character was So Horrible!

did you even watch Defiance at all? Show is much better than the Killjoys and Dark Matter crap that got hyped up too much because of Shawn Ashmore.

Defiance got a frikkin videogame. I think Falling Skies even had a videogame too but not sure

Defiance, Killjoys, Dark Matter.... SyFy had many shows that were strong with the world building but weak on the actual plots.

I loved Killjoys. They really went for the crazy in their last season and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I liked Dark Matter too.

We used to say around here, "SyFy Original Movie: Bad. SyFy Original Series: Good."

Wasn't Defiance created specifically because there was an intentional video gAme tie in?

Kinda of a multimedia approach to an originaL IP

When they started, I thought Dark Matter was the smarter one and Killjoys was the popcorn one. But as the seasons went on, I didn't think Dark Matter was smart at all while Killjoys got better.

I liked Defiance but didn't care about Falling Skies. I actually recall a great deal from the show as well even if I haven't seen it in awhile. I liked how you still had a society with rules and laws even if it was built from the ashes of the old world which would be ours.

Yeah, it was an MMO, got a reboot as well...
No longer playable...
