Spoilers 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' series [Spoiler Discussion]

Anyone else feeling profoundly uninteresting in revisionist fanfiction? Always had too much of the whiff of "desperate back-seat driving", mixed with the distinct odour of "copying someone else's homeword" to me. And that one that tried to "fix" the inquisitor by making him look like the collapsed, deflated-head version of Pennywise was just deeply off-putting.

I mean if you're going to do fan-fiction, at least come up with an original idea, ya know?

Fan edits are just mix-tapes. The best bits as chosen by one person.
And easy to ignore if you don't like them. ;)

Not really, no.

I find it incredibly interesting to see what fans put together as it gives insight in to what a fan liked or didn't like and not everyone is gifted as a writer or even disagree with the narrative enough to rewrite everything.

Besides, fan edits have been going on since the Phantom Edit, and despecialized edition edits.

As far as fan activities go this one is more enjoyable than say video game parties or table top sessions for me.

No, the film equivalent of a mix tape would just be a highlight reel. Not even remotely the same thing.
You're thinking of a remix, which is also often (but not always) an inferior product, made by someone lacking in musical talent of their own, so they glom off the talent of others. Only a few notches up the quality and artistic integrity ladder from "AI art".

those don't count, if anything they are undoing Lucas's fan edit.
It's not a fan edit if they literally own, wrote, directed and shot the footage to begin with. Lucas can change whatever the fuck he wants, and people just need to deal with that reality.

I know it can't literally be a fan edit, but it fits all the other criteria. unhappy with finished movie, make a new version with current technology. While the pendulum has actually swung a bit too far giving Marcia Lucas credit, you could say the Special Editions are George's fan edit of Marcia's Star Wars.

Unfortunately, the special editions were a precursor to the direction /editing we were in for with the PT. A man will tell you his intentions, if you stop and listen...

Even earlier than that...
we were warned.

No disagreement here. And to be clear, I mean that as applies to both remixes and fan-edits.
