I predict I'll get a lot of use out of the second one.

Hmmm, really? I'll have to go back and look at all the replies to my posts then.

I found some vintage magazine ads, and decided to cook up some thread bombs that are generally more useful:

Nice ones. :techman: I can think of a few uses for the science one already.

You have to appreciate the level of artistry that went in to even the most mundane of ads back then.

Do you recall what that second ad was for by any chance?

I'm not sure what it was for, but here it is. Some sort of PSA, maybe?

Here's the first one. I had to change the brightness and wattage number for obvious reasons. ;)

I couldn't find any slogan that matched the "a chemical is a chemical is a chemical" and really that doesn't make much sense as a slogan to begin with. "Water and mercury are both chemicals, so drink up kids!" So, yeah, possibly a very odd PSA.

This one cries out for some kind of meth lab reference...

Why is she smiling like that?

Scientist: "As you can see, this compound begins to oscillate once you shake it."
    Woman: "Oooooooo."

A couple of the ads didn't need editing at all:

I didn't find anything on a quick search, but it's got the look of a magazine ad for Monsanto or Union Carbide, circa 1960, possibly in National Geographic.
