I thought I was missing LeVar's other kids.![]()
Imagine the balancing act Terry Matalas had to go through to get the later madeI think talking about Legacy and PIC S3 is becoming too much of a balancing act. I can't be the only one who thinks this.
I really didn't appreciate the implication that I was a worshipper
Seemed like a slam dunk.Imagine the balancing act Terry Matalas had to go through to get the later made![]()
I realize I'm one of this board's "villains" (omg... I'm a fan of Berman era Trek, want continuity/the shared universe/think ST is a period piece, don't want a backdoor reboot, and think NuTrek is far less successful than it could have been), but I've found you to be a good faith poster, even though we highly disagree over one series in the franchise in particular.Whoever's with me will be with me. Whoever's not, won't be, and no hard feelings as long as they don't act like complete you-know-whats about it. It's too much work to worry about, "Oh! How's someone going to respond if I say I like XYZ?"
Speaking as someone who has butted heads with you in the past, I can say that my biggest issue is that if there is a "Cult of Matalas," you come off as one of their holy priest. You gate keep and insinuate that fans of the newer series are somehow "Lesser Trekkies."I realize I'm one of this board's "villains" (omg... Several people here engage in borderline bullying and dehumanization, while also wishing for Berman era Trek fans to be excommunicated from the ST fandom. You shouldn't have to take into account potential bullying in response to offering your opinion on different developments. Consider putting the bullies on ignore and moving on.
Villains, eh?I realize I'm one of this board's "villains" (omg... I'm a fan of Berman era Trek, want continuity/the shared universe/think ST is a period piece,
This BBS does have its (seemingly coordinated) pile ons... maybe there's a WhatsApp group?Villains, eh?
Interesting perspective.
You frequently use hyperbole, but I don't remember experiencing any personal attacks from you. I hope you are holding SNW equally accountable for potential populism as you did PS3The fact that I'm ok with limited continuity does not mean I reject those who hold the view. I just work with Trek how it comes, not how I wish it to be.
Of course new Trek could have been better. But what do I do with it now that it exists? Ignore it? Disparage it? What?
I enjoy hyperbole and sarcasm. Those are my two primary languages. You frequently use hyperbole, but I don't remember experiencing any personal attacks from you. I hope you are holding SNW equally accountable for potential populism as you did PS3![]()
Go ahead. How to deal with NuTrek continuity problems in universe? Play the alternate timeline card, then move on.
I support a lot of Trek because nothing should cater to me.In real life, like what you like, dislike what you dislike, and support efforts to make more Star Trek that you would like.
I feel hyperbole can derail and hijack discussions. Sarcasm is very difficult to pull off in text form, especially if you have people here from different cultures and/or have English as a second language. I've spent over a third of my life outside the US, and it takes months, if not years, to understand another country's culture enough to pull it off. One person's joke might come across as passive agressive.I enjoy hyperbole and sarcasm. Those are my two primary languages.
YMMVAnd I'm always suspect of populism in media. SNW is ok, but seems to balance fan service and newness while not being perfect.
Star Trek is behind a paywall. If Paramount+ wants me to pay to watch a series in real time, they should cater to me. I'll give a new series a few episodes, but I'm not paying to hate watch something ~seasons~ in. Well, unless they bring in a new showrunner I'm a pre-existing fan of...I support a lot of Trek because nothing should cater to me.
The only season of Picard I actively dislike is Season 2.
Then with you I'll be perfectly serious.I feel hyperbole can derail and hijack discussions. Well, I'm also willing to give it a couple of episodes.Star Trek is behind a paywall. If Paramount+ wants me to pay to watch a series in real time, they should cater to me. I mean, parts of PS2 I found infuriating, and LOWER DECKS is 50% bad, but I watched those two. DISCOVERY after the Talos IV episode and SNW just fall under the unwatchable cut off point for me haha...No, I'm not needing perfectly catering to me.
I just gotta ask.... what is it that makes SNW unwatchable?I mean, parts of PS2 I found infuriating, and LOWER DECKS is 50% bad, but I watched those two. DISCOVERY after the Talos IV episode and SNW just fall under the unwatchable cut off point for me haha...
