News Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1 TRAILER released

I think it would be worse for people that don't follow online news about movies to go in and only realize at the end that they need to see a second movie to close the story.
Yeah, that would definitely have the potential to generate bad word of mouth, especially with an audience that probably skews older.

I've thought for years now that they should promote Ethan Hunt to the "Secretary" role and have Ilsa Faust take over as the action lead.
I like it but I don't see Cruise agreeing to play a supporting role like that for at least another ten years.

It doesn't have to be a supporting role, just not an action-driven role. Naturally the story structure would be reworked to focus just as heavily on the boss as on the field team. We've already seen that happen to an extent with Alec Baldwin, whose role in the previous couple of films was somewhat larger than the team's superiors' roles have been in the earlier installments. It's just a matter of taking that a step further.

I mean, of course Cruise is going to want to keep doing insane stunts as long as he can, but the time will come when even he'll have to admit it's not feasible anymore. This is a way to keep him involved in the series while adjusting to his age.

I've thought for years now that they should promote Ethan Hunt to the "Secretary" role and have Ilsa Faust take over as the action lead. It seems the obvious route to keep the series going. No reason it can't live beyond Ethan Hunt, given that he was a replacement character to begin with (and given that the M:I TV series had two different leads and a frequently changing cast).

Have you seen the current movie?

Ilsa dies in this one, so there goes this possibility. However in the beginning they introduce a new guy, who makes a special delivery to Hunt which is sort of an induction for him into the IMF. Depending on what happens with the team this could have been a setup for a completely new team even if Cruise won't be a part of it or at best only makes small cameos if his character survives the finale.

I do think the plan is to phase out the current team and replace it with younger characters introduced in Dead Reckoning, though I could see them keeping Benji around as a kind of mentor figure. Cruise will probably want to go out with a bang, though, as opposed to slowly playing a smaller part with each new movie. Ving Rhames probably is ready to leave, as well, especially as Luther really plays the role of Ethan's conscience.
Hayley Atwell's character of Grace really came across as a potential new lead, and the way Greg Tarzan Davis character was constantly sympathizing with Hunt's team, I thought it obvious that he would also be added to the IMF team.

Pom Klementieff's sudden redemption arc at the end, and looking about to die only to be proclaimed to survive, I think she's very much a potential new IMF agent and member of the team.

This may be a part one but it’s actually a full satisfying story. Unlike Spider Verse and Fast X.

That would work for me too. Something about Hayley Atwell makes me think she'd be a good choice for playing an intelligence agent in an ongoing series... not sure what exactly... hmmm... ;)

Yeah... Maybe set in the post war 40s... Hmmm indeed.

Is it right what I hear that they're changing the title to something else and losing the 2? Presumably the part 1 will be lost from this film (which I still haven't managed to bloody see!)

finished off watching this movie, can someone explain how many set of key are there? it looks like there is a set from the submarine where all those dead bodies are. Then there is another set of key they are chasing around in the whole movie. But there is only supposed to be 1 set of key?

It's the same set.

I expected some cleverly hidden CGI but not this much

I feel like this video would be stuff Tom Cruise doesn't want you to see. The man behind the curtain type of things. I thought they were really in the Austrian alps but they used a ton of CGI in reality.

They've done the same in the previous movies. Heck, with the HALO drop in Fallout, it was actually more exciting in the behind-the-scenes video, where you could see the stunt drop they did for real, than in the movie, where they buried it under so much CGI environment stuff that it pretty much negated the value of doing it for real. This looks much the same. I remember seeing the earlier behind-the-scenes video of the motorcycle drop off the ramp, which they did for real, and I was wondering what the story excuse for the ramp would be, but now I see they replaced it entirely with a CGI outcropping.
