Things that frustrate us all

When I wasa kid, we lived on the hillside, and our neighbors put in a large chicken coop in the space carved out between the hillside and the house. The coop was shaded by the driveway above. We got fresh eggs for free all the time,

Then they got a rooster .

My Dad would cuss out that damn thing every day. Eventually, even the neighbors couldn't take it so they sold it.

Good thing, too because Dad was about to go kill the damn thing. It would start crowing at 4am and not stop until 4pm.

One good thing I will say about roosters, is that they sound pretty funny when they're first learning to crow. I had assumed they just instinctually knew how to do it, but they don't, and they make some weird sounds when they're trying to figure it out.

I didn't hear this one learning. One horrible pre-dawn morning he was just there.

...It would start crowing at 4am and not stop until 4pm.

That's pretty much this one's schedule too.

I feel a little sorry for him, because when you're born a rooster, you're pretty much born a jerk, and he can only say ONE THING, over and over. At least the chickens, which make plenty of noise themselves, sound like they're, you know, talking in chicken.

Thank-you all for the rooster support.

Roosters (and chickens) can actually pick up the predawn light shift and will start stirring prior to full on dawn.

Yes, they are very annoying and learn bad habits very quickly. I prefer just hens.

When I was young and still living in my parents' home, the next door neighbors got some chickens and that rooster crowed a LOT. The neighbor came over one day and offered to have the rooster's voice box removed if he was too annoying for us. My mom was totally horrified and told them no, it was all fine. So the rooster continued to crow in all his glory.

One other animal that is incredibly loud is donkeys, we hear them a lot from probably over a mile away while we're out at the park where the wild herds live. I don't even want to imagine how loud they must be when people have domesticated ones in the backyards or next door.

Customers who make online web appointments then don't follow through.

We set aside a block of time for our technicians to work on your vehicle, and then for you to just blow us off or when we call to remind you and it goes straight to voice-mail.

It leaves my technicians sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

At least have the courtesy of calling to say you can't make it, so we can possibly reschedule.

People in general seem to not respect other people's time. Things like calling to say you can't make it or need to reschedule is a sign of respect, which is something so many people are sadly deficient at.

This is particularly true of upper class people who deal with the working class.

What's especially frustrating are the ones who make an online appointment that we can't get a hold of, so I assign another job to the technician, then the customer who booked the online appointment shows up later than scheduled, then gets upset that I won't honor their appointment and wants some sort of reimbursement, like a free oil change. That's not how it works. If anyone should be reimbursed it's the technician who sat around waiting.

What's also frustrating these days is people not leaving voicemail. If it's important enough to call, leave a voicemail or send a text.

I get so many telemarketing calls despite being on Do Not Call List, so I now let all of my calls go to voicemail that are not in my contact list on my phone.

I hate leaving voicemails, so I get one, I will often time hang up and try again later. Usually if it's important I'll call back, and if I still don't get a person, I will leave a message that time.

This reminds me of something that really confused both my mom and I. We don't buy our movie tickets online, but I will use the app to see how full the theater is, and there are a lot of time where the app will show the theater almost full, but then it ends being it'll be between 1/3 to 1/2 empty. Do that many people buy their tickets, and then not actually go see the movie? I could see a few people not showing up occasionally, but this a lot of people, and it happens almost pretty often.

Was approaching an intersection. No light or stop sign yet there was a backup of vehicles that had to stop. Is someone crossing the street? No. Is someone waiting to turn left? No. Traffic started to move again but then stopped again. Could not figure out why everyone stopped twice. The only thing I can think of is that someone thought the stop for pedestrians sign meant stop. And then a second driver thought the same thing.

I share similar versions of your pain!
Always an adventure out there...Doc Brown would have known what to do...

"Roads?...where we're going, we don't need roads..."

One person did it, so everyone else had to do it. Fun to mess with people.

A couple of weeks ago I put my garbage out two days early to see if any of my neighbors would do the same thing. Many did.

I was taught that at a four way intersection with no lights you come to a complete stop, look both ways before proceeding in a counter clockwise direction.
The car on my left goes first, I go second, the car to my right goes third and the car straight ahead goes last.

I was taught right away. Every state has their own way to teach the same thing.
We did prank a kid in high school and told them that stop signs with white borders are optional.
