What do you think are the worst inventions of the internet age?

I remember a recent episode of L&O where the detectives go to a place called a "content house". Basically a high rise apartment building populated ENTIRELY by "influencers". I'm like, if this place burned to the ground, society would be WAY better off.
Not as bad as those buildings full of phone scammers in assorted foreign countries. If ever a building needed a few molotov cocktails through the window it was those ones.

That said, there is a way in which social media has truly made us happier: Travis and Sigrid.

Ohhh, a fan! Yeah, I like her too. She puts together some great videos on interesting topics.

As to the topic at hand, I'd say internet connected devices beyond the obvious. Most daily-use devices, like say a laptop or tablet or even streaming devices make sense to be connected to the internet, but then you have stuff like appliances that have dubious uses.

Internet connected toaster.... I'm not even kidding ffs.

As for Feli I find her great fun but those thumbnails of her videos what does she has the hugest eyes but looks happy, so very happy.

I'm so sick of every damn thing being re-imagined as a "smart" device. A lot of the time it's just an excuse to jack up the price on an old standard.

Yeah, and I'm sure there are some arbitrary uses, but I'm fine with not using smart devices of any kind. I used to have a smart scale, as it was handy to have the functionality of being able to track my weight over time, but when I stopped using it, I deleted my account as well. And I use just a dumb watch, that actually has a feature I've never seen a smart watch do, and it's that it will beep twice on the hour. Simple and unobtrusive.
