ETA: I still haven't The Flash but I am very curious on that movie's take on Supergirl.
I always enjoyed Melissa Benoist take on the character, even though I couldn't finish the series. As with, for example Capaldi and Whitaker, it wasn't the show's lead that make me lose interest but rather the writing that just got worse.

Right now it's only available for streaming for 15 euro's. Doesn't seem worth it from what I've heard about the movie in general. I'll wait till it's a cheaper rent or for free on HBO Max.

Just googled it. I get it now. Nice new addition to my knowledge on English/American sayings. And I also see how it could come across like that. I tried to point out that people should do what makes them happy, but I came across somewhat intenser than I should have.
As I said, that's a valid interpretation, but the Donner movies didn't pin it down that specifically. It's implicitly some kind of interactive recording or personality emulation, but it's played more as a pseudo-Biblical thing, the father bequeathing his wisdom and undying love to his son, watching over him from the beyond. The movie is more interested in the emotion and spirituality of it than the technological underpinnings.

Slater's really great in the part, adroitly juggling doe-eyed innocence and determined strength. The movie is ... often inexplicable in its choices, but I find it completely entertaining regardless.
I love Benoist and Calle, too. The former, in particular, was at least as defining in the role as Slater. I'm less enthused about Vandervoort, but as always, I appreciate her place in the character's legacy.
Melissa Benoist is Supergirl for me, and that probably won't ever change.

Hey, guys, what about that Supergirl, eh?
I think all of those Supergirl's did a good job, but Helen Slater's really had nothing to work with. Watching that movie she barely gets any character, I feel like I never really got a grasp on who the character was, she felt like a side character in her own movie while the evil witch villain was more of the focus character. I honestly think that the Calle Supergirl got more character then the Slater one, even with much less screentime.
Also, related to Superman, I've been thinking that, while the show itself has weird issues and isn't a great adaptation of the Superman mythos in many ways, Smallville probably has my favorite live action versions of many of Superman's supporting cast. The Smallville versions of Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Jimmy Olsen, John/Martha Kent, and even Lex Luthor are easily my favorite live action versions of the characters, and Smallville's Supergirl only really loses out to Benoist because Benoist got a whole shows worth of focus/development.
Smallville honestly did a bunch of DC characters better then later adaptations now that I think about it, its Hawkman (played by Michael Shanks) was much better the the Legends of Tomorrow or Black Adam versions (although I liked the Black Adam version well enough), its Legion of Superheroes were 1000 times better then the Supergirl versions, its Black Canary was better then the Arrow versions (not that its a high bar to cross with that), its JSA in general was well done and was actually the JSA (unlike Legends stupid military group called the Justice Society, although Black Adam wins when it comes to Doctor Fate, also I don't count the group of children in the Stargirl show as the JSA), and even its Martian Manhunter is really great, although not quite as good as Supergirl's because of how much character stuff that version got.

I brought up the Supergirl topic as a joking response to complaints about too much Superman, but it's cool that it seems actually to be taking off.
Benoist was perfection in the role throughout, but her show unfortunately declined badly in its last couple of seasons.
