What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Eh I wouldn't go that far. I found Picard S3 overall more entertaining and actually used most of its main cast, but DSC s4 does feel more Star Trek than previous seasons

PIC S03 was really exciting for the first few episodes until it became clear we'd spend 80% of the season stuck on the Titan.

It was nice to see everyone back together. It was nice to see the D. But once the shine had worn off... There's not much to it.

PIC Season 3 was basically a giant bag of Halloween candy with a Starfleet delta on the outside but I had fun. Season 2 was arguably the worst season of any Star Trek series since I was starting to shave.

I can understand that complaint. But I think it was supposed to evoke those feelings of claustrophobia

Fair.

I'm not saying there wasn't anything to enjoy in it...

I think i soured on it when it came to the whole villain reveal which was... eh.

While I didn't like the Changelings being undercut, I felt the Borg were really the only villains thematically worthy of being Picard's final foe

Again, fair.

In that case, I wish they'd saved the final foe for the final season rather than having them be in all seasons previous prominently as well.

PIC is very much the Borg show and it didn't need to be.

I understand. They were used a lot. I guess for me they're Picard's biggest foe, so I can see why they were used so much

Damnit!

Do you know what a hassle all that editing was while on my phone?

The spoiler rule is 6 months from airdate. It’s posted at the top of the forum in two different places.

The stuff you’re talking about happened in April, which means October before openly discussing in this forum.

:scream:

I apologize. I forgot to put spoilers. I'll keep it in mind next time

Absolutely sorry. Totally avoidable and stupid of me.

I just think it's insensitive to call a show with a half-LGBT+ cast "STD". It's about as ignorant as someone in the 1980s calling AIDS a disease for you-know-what.

Ugh. It's low hanging fruit, insensitive to anyone actually affected by an STD and neither funny nor even inline with how previous Trek shows have been abbreviated, but some folks are going to do it, so what can be done?

I'm tired of fighting shit like that. If someone gets off on adolescent 'jokes' like that, let them have their 'fun'.

The only reason Ezri is so awesome (and she is) is because the audience had the experience of Jadzia. She wouldn't have worked as well as a new character.
I feel the need to amend this to note that there is more than one reason why Ezri awesome. Being a continuation of Dax is only one of them. But it did give her a leg up.

If it was a mostly straight cast / characters it would be OK? That's silly on the face of it.

I will then insist that everyone now use ST (or STTOS / STTAS), STTNG, STDSN, STV, and E (and eventually STE) when abbreviating Star Trek shows.
Red Brain: You got VOY in my TFF.

Yellow Brain: No, you got ST5 in my VGR.

Besides, Disco is a perfectly acceptable term for the show.
It is. So is DISCO. It is in fact also a canonical abbreviation of the starship, in-universe.
