I never played the games but I freaking LOVE the WC movie. It gets a bad rap and that sucks.

You can play the Wing Commander games still. GOG has them. Also, you can find AI upscaled videos of the cut scenes on YouTube. Loved playing them as a kid.
Also, my Internet got jacked up this morning. My provider bumped my speed to 500 from 250. I don’t even use 250. But the up is still an awful 10. I had to remotely reset everything as I had no Internet after they made this change this morning.

I believe he turned down the role of Morpheus for similar reasons. And that's part of why he did "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" is that he didn't get it but apparently those were the moneymakers in Hollywood.
And that didn't work out so he retired.
Well, we have Klingons, who are basically Space Vikings, so that's pretty close.

I just think the movie came out at the wrong time and might have been lost in a sea of other better movies. It could have been great, Now I have an itch to watch it again.
Oh and Star Trek never had decent space pirates, they came close but no real piraty stuff was ever done on the TV shows or movies, unless you count that one episode of Enterprise where there was a crew acting like pirates and then our heroes turned pirate to get their stuff back.
There's also Captain Angel from SNW, but (like most 'space pirates') she irritated the hell out of me so much that I'm trying to repress that memory.
As for the Wing Commander movie, I always laugh when people slam it for supposedly not having realistic space combat scenes. As if we've ever had any actual space combat for them to compare it to.

I felt the same way but after a second watch that episode isn't that bad.
I just hate it when characters like that speak, they're always such smartasses. I have very little tolerance for people like that.

Oh yeah I can get that. Snark seems to be trendy though. I'm not sure why writers think it is at all clever.
But... without snark I have no personality!
