News Season 1 DVD/Blu-Ray Release

What is the likelyhood of S1 getting a full blu ray release, now that's it's cancelled...? Can anyone guess..? Or will this be the first batch of episodes that I will have to keep stored on a USB stick..?

IIRC, someone in one of the other threads mentioned American Amazon has a listing for the second half of season 1 on physical media with a release date of September 12. Though that hasn't been reported anywhere else, nor are there listings on the Amazons of other countries, so, yeah. Best I can say is "maybe."

Although other sources are indicating we shouldn't expect any further physical releases until after the show has been picked up by someone else. If the show isn't picked up by anyone else, then no merchandise, including DVDs/Blu-rays can be legally released or Paramount's "tax write-off" becomes null and void.

Decided to import the US blu-ray (which has been reported as being region-free in multiple places), as the chances of the blu-ray ever coming out in Europe are quite slim at this time.

Seems to be selling quite well on Amazon at the moment. Presently #92 in the best selling list for the Blu-rays, just behind Picard S3 in #91 and ahead of Dune in #94.

I would as well but it’s only the first 10. I’m sure one day they’ll release the rest

A listing with the same September 12 date is now up on Amazon Canada.

I don't generally like to pre-order things, but I put a pre-order in for this, in case it helps show demand to Paramount, or something. Amazon doesn't charge your card till it ships, so if it ends up getting cancelled, I shouldn't be out any money.

My guess is the official announcement will occur at the same time as COMICON since Paramount still plans on attending even though other studios have cancelled their attendance because of the writers strike.

I wouldn't be surprised the announcement for the Prodigy 11-20 boxset will be low-key and Paramount hoping everyone will be paying attention to news about SNW and Lower Decks.

Why would they want it to be low-key, specifically? It'll probably sell like gangbusters.
