I certainly would not blame you and would amend my post forthwith because yeah I still enjoy B5.Okay, while skimming through I read this as "What pointless B5" and was about to come out swinging...![]()

Please, elucidate. Because it's a critical plot point of TMP that it's basically a brand new ship. Aside from the basic arrangement it's very different inside and out.

The only thing that might outpace it for sheer badness is Picard season 2.I adore ENT and you're right. Season 2 is the worst. By a tangible margin.![]()
By that metric, I assume you're referring to TNG season 1 or 2. I think Enterprise season 2 was worse than those because even at their worst, the first couple seasons of TNG were never out and out boring. Enterprise season 2 and TOS season 3 are the only Star Trek seasons that are absolutely binge proof, but for different reasons. One because it was largely bad and the other because it was largely boring.PIC Season 2 is the worst season of any Star Trek series since 1987-88. And might be even worse.
And how is the SNW Enterprise that different? It still uses the same basic design.Well, you did then post a picture showing how the outside isn't that different. Bridge, BC deck, impulse engines, dorsal, defector dish, three sensors around the dish, pylons (now angled, sure) warp engines still about the same proportions, hangar deck about the same size.
Did TMP cost more money? Yup. Do current shows cost more money? Yup.
Given how often I hear TOS sounds effects used in other shows (not just Futurama), I'm gonna disagree with this. The door opening/closing sound alone practically says, "THIS IS SCIENCE FICTION."The TOS sound effects wouldn't be used today if they weren't already used for TOS. They sound too goofy in isolation.
It's a mixed bag. But I think the good outweighs the bad. And I adore Carbon Creek.I adore ENT and you're right. Season 2 is the worst. By a tangible margin.![]()

I'm not sure how that can be done mathematically. The warp engines have more of a TOS shape, obviously. But then they do lots of fiddly bits on the engines. The refit saucer is arguable closer to the TOS ship. As is the impulse assembly. The overall proportions of the refit are closer than the SNW because the SNW ship was making design choices based on both the TOS and the TMP ships. There's also the issue of adding another 500m onto SNW.The SNW Enterprise is a lot closer to the TOS Enterprise than the Refit ever was.
I don't recall hearing the size on any of the shows. There's also the issue of adding another 500m onto SNW.
If a new actor is playing a role previously played by someone else, either to recreate the role for a new audience (SNW) or to replace an actor who is no longer available (Dumbledore in Harry Potter et al), they should start with "channeling" the original and build on it to create their own interpretation that brings to mind that it is still the same character, while making the character their own. I don't care how they morph the character into their own interpretation, just make me believe that it's the same character and that the changes are growth. No actor should be expected to “channel” a previous actor’s performance of a role.
