But no Pike. And Pike is all I've ever wanted in a Trek show.
Or how the SNW Enterprise suddenly turns into the TOS Enterprise inside and out in only five years. That's why it makes more sense to treat SNW/DSC as reboots where events happen to be very similar but the window dressing of visual and cultural aesthetics are severely different. Do you really expect Paul Wesley's KIrk to try to seduce 19 year old Lenore Karidian just in order to get information about her dad?
As I said, have the gifs at the ready. Strict literal interpretation of Trek is very prominent now.I see it's that time again...![]()
I dunno...I can watch an episode of SNW followed by an episode of TOS and have zero issue accepting them as the same place or part of the same continuity. The TOS bridge looks different because it was a show made over 60 years ago.

A lot can happen in five years.
To wit: The size of the crew, in SNW, is 203. Just like in "The Cage". Sometime in between SNW and TOS, the size of the crew will more than double, to the 430 it was in TOS. They're probably gonna need a lot of refits to accomplish that. So it is entirely possible that these refits will result in the TOS look. Easy peasy.
Remember, the refits from TOS to TMP only took 18 months. And the ship changed a hell of a lot. So assuming that also happens in between SNW and TOS...what's the problem?![]()
Indeed. It is certainly within the realm of Star Trek's timelines of refits. If it happens I won't be shocked.Remember, the refits from TOS to TMP only took 18 months. And the ship changed a hell of a lot. So assuming that also happens in between SNW and TOS..
To be fair, we don't know what their idea final look of the ship exterior and interior will be for the last planned episode of SNW, (Or even if SNW will be cancelled before they can execute everything they may have planned - IE They expect to get one more season of SNW, but don't.)Well, the ‘problem’ is that the producers of SNW have no intention of changing the ship inside and out to look like the TOS version. I have ‘problem’ in quotes because it’s not actually a problem.
They could take the last few minutes of a planned final episode and have the Bridge interior and ship interior look just like TOS (circa 1966-69).
To me, SNW and TOS will always have both taken place in the exact same franchise Universe, and my absolute enjoyment of both won't be affected one bit.
If Mariner and Boimler start listing off all the inconsistencies between TOS and SNW, that would actually be really amusing. Since their dialogue is supposed to mirror 'fan' discourse looking from the outside-in on Star Trek.

Guessing that Mariner and Boimler will have watched in-universe dramatisations that visually resembled TOS.
But, as I mentioned, in-universe it would completely negate CBS’s stance that ‘it always looked this way.’ I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
