The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

I did like the first season of the Exorcist. A much better follow up to the original movie.

Agreed. Season 1 was must see tv for me. The big reveal, while not completely surprising, was still quite impactful. Sadly season 2 was a jumbled mess.

Much better than Damien, the Omen remake series.

But I did like the Friday the 13th series even though it had nothing to do with the series. The closest remake to it was Warehouse 13, which I’d love to see continued along with Eureka.

The Cruel Intentions TV series is bringing back one character from the movie.... that was played by Sean Patrick Thomas.

The Bewitched idea sounds boring but I could get behind a return to Malcom in the Middle.
Sounds more like Sabrina than Bewitched. I would think a proper Bewitched would be a challenge in animation, so much of the show involved Darrin's exasperation and Samantha's scrambling and so on that seems like it's more suited to the reactions you can get from live actor faces.

I think a live action remake of Bewitched could be good or one with the daughter grown up and married to a guy, but instead of just trying to get her to not use her powers so they can live a normal suburban lifestyle you need to go the route of how those powers can corrupt her because it's like having the powers of a God. Samantha's use of powers or not would be kind of metaphor to drug addiction. Not only that but Eldna in this version has moved in to not only help out but also if Samantha's goes crazy powers you actually going to need a another witch that can do something about it because what can Darrin do as a regular ole human. They both would work in the add business in this version as well. So you would have some workplace humor involved.

They did that. It was a spin-off series called "Tabitha", where she's a young woman (20's? 30's?). Only she had a potential love interest, no husband. The spin-off failed.

There was a failed "Cruel Intentions" pilot from a few years ago that brought Sarah Michelle Geller back. It also brought back composer Edward Shearmur.

Apparently there is a The Full Monty TV show currently streaming on Disney+? I never saw anything about that. What a weird choice.

We watched the first episode last night. No stripping so far (thank goodness, at their ages!), it’s catching up with the characters 25 years later and in particular after a decade of Tory rule. It’s a little patchy in places but good enough to keep us wanting to watch episode 2.

Sounds like something that should technically be part of Hulu. And I know Disney technically is always kid-friendly content, but yikes.

Disney plus on this side of the Atlantic contains the stuff that would be on Hulu on the other side. So you’ll see shows like The Boston Strangler nestling among the Star Wars or Marvel movies.

Wasn't there a reboot of Bewitched but race swapped for Samantha? Guess that didn;t go anywhere.
Considering that Bewitched was already (in part) a metaphor for mixed marriages that might be a little too on the nose, though less so if both Sam and Darrin are race-swapped.

Universal went back into their library to pump out another lower budget DTV movie, only instead of The River Wild 2: An Even Wilder River, they're treating it as it's own thing and just calling it River Wild.

What do you think Universal 1440 will make next?
