Sorry, I came across unintentionally as too cold, but the far too entrenched avarice, arrogance, and ignorance shown by most US corporate executives in the many, many years since the '08 Recession is getting so fucking numbing and draining to me.
I'm fully on the side of the writers, production crew, SFX artists, and actors, I fucking knew Paramount+ wasn't going to take off, and I'm so glad more folks are fighting against the commercial/artistic abuse of AI.

I agree on this. I'm not as angry as I am saddened by short sightedness that is all too common in the sensate world we live in.

Looks like the studio's strategy of waiting to see what the other Hollywood unions might accept before re-engaging with WGA negotiations may be working to their advantage:

It won't help the studios if there aren't any scripts to direct, or if the actors strike too.

In short, DGA was never going to strike anyway, but the deal they struck is probably a harbinger of what the writers will get through "pattern bargaining," and they got concessions on three of the big issues, including AI.

Paramount+ went from 20 million subscribers to 60 million in 2 years, so yeah its taking off, its supposed to reach profitablity in 2024.
The studios don't care about that, I'm not surprised by the studios making a quick deal with the Directors, the writers strike is more then enough to get what studios actually want from the strike, Force Mesure (screwed that word up), which will allow them to dump all the bad deals they made when money was cheap (very low interest) and the "woke" dominated the culture.
The Studios the fat is being cut, the strike makes that easier, it'll help most of them reach profitablity in streaming and free resources for more bankable deals like Star Trek Legacy.

If they're already going to have profitability, your own words, then they don't need to cut anything. You're just hoping they'll cancel whatever you don't like.
If they're looking at bankability then Legacy is not it. It will mean more money out in casting.

Its never about need, its about maximizing profits and opportunism.
The safer bet is entirely new, less expensive actors, possibly one famous Trek cameo, and exploring a new period with the next generation*
*catchy title. Probably should use that.

You mean like Picard S1 & S2 did? (neither of which did as well as Picard S3 OR SNW S1?)
