How would you explain to the Borg why you are resisting assimilation rather than accepting it

I'd rather have a photon grenade. When the Borg overrun me, I detonate it, and there's nothing left to assimilate.

How would you explain to the Borg why you are resisting assimilation rather than accept the assimilation and achieve perfection

Maybe " Dear Borg, I value individuality and diversity, which are sacrificed in assimilation. True perfection lies in embracing our differences and learning from one another. Cooperation, rather than assimilation, allows for growth and enlightenment. Let us strive towards a shared vision of perfection through mutual respect and collaboration. "

So, basically the Picard in FC solution ('You may encounter Enterprise crewmembers who've already been assimilated. Don't hesitate to fire. Believe me you'll be doing them a favour.')- except pre-emptive and applied to yourself.

Pretty much. Or like the crazy sergeant in "Dead Rising 2" who thinks you're a zombie. After you defeat him, he tells you "You ain't gonna bite me... I'll never be one of you." Then blows himself to smithereens.

That is actually a pretty good argument, both for non-assimilation and for the Federation as a whole. Might be worth a try... but I'm still keeping that photon grenade as a backup plan. ;)

I don't think it would convince the Borg, though. If they'd even reply to that, that reply probably would be that assimilation achieves the 'learning from one another' part (after being added to the group consciousness), in a far more efficient and complete manner than separate individuals ever could hope to accomplish. And that individuality is needlessly limited.

(Not that I'd agree with that, but I simply think that would be the Borg's stance).

I totally get where you're coming from. It's true that assimilation sacrifices individuality and diversity, which are crucial for personal growth and enlightenment. Embracing our differences and learning from one another is what truly leads us towards true perfection. The Federation has always been a beacon of cooperation, valuing the unique contributions of its members. It's definitely worth giving your argument a try!

But hey, keeping that photon grenade as a backup plan isn't a bad idea either. It's always good to be prepared, just in case. Stay safe out there!

I would tell them that according to my own standards they are far less than perfect, and to set it more precisely, they and their entire criminal "civilization" are actually disgusting to me.

I follow my own path to perfection, and I don't appreciate or need their "help" to become a criminal monster, like they are.

You'd talk them to death, aka Kirk? "You seek to eliminate imperfection. You yourselves are not perfect. Die."

Except the Borg think they can achieve perfection by continuing to assimilate more and more. You'd have ton convince them that they're becoming less and less perfect, that they were perfect before they started to do this, and will never be perfect again.
