TWD Dead City

ELCHawk

Commander

Is it time to start a thread about the upcoming Negan and Maggie show? The trailer was excellent. I will love to see how the two leads coexist. The actor that plays "The Croat" is great at playing a bad guy.

I am old. I don't know how to post the trailer on my phone. Could someone do that please.

One thing I need to do is catch up on the original before I watch this and the other spinoff shows.

I am a school teacher so I usually get caught up on shows in the summer.

This summer I want to get caught up on:..
TWD
The Last of Us
The Orville
Expanse

This looks pretty good, and Maggie and Negan are two of my favorite characters, so that's a big draw for me.

I dropped off watching the original show right around where Carl died and only got like 3 episodes into the first spin-off before forgetting it exists. Literally! I know I saw them, but can't remember a thing.

So is it worth getting caught up for this one, or too much of a slog?

I think the original was definitely worth going through .. it ends very well, and is a decent set up for the new show.

For Fear... I think the 1st 2 seasons of Morgan appearing on Fear are worth it, with lots of other good characters. But last season was horrible, with some bad character assassination

I'll give it a go, but I'm not convinced that creatively there's really all that much more to do with Negan at this point. Feels like his character was pretty well wrapped in the parent series, especially in relation to Maggie.

Catching up on several seasons of TWD is definitely not worth it. If you watched until Carl's death you know who Maggie and Neegan are, that's enough to jump in.

I also read the comics up until mid-way through the whole Whispers thing, so I think I have a general notion of where the show was headed. And yeah, two and a half seasons is easily 35-40 hrs. Given that the odds of the spin-off even lasting that long are middling at best, it hardly seems worth it. If I get lost, I'm sure there's plenty of youtube cat-up videos.

Honestly the only reason I'm even considering watching this new show is that Maggie was easily one of my favourite characters both on the show and in the comics. Neegan I can take or leave.

It's even more than that, the show had 11 seasons, Carl died in the middle of the eighth. The last three seasons had a combined 62 episodes plus whatever you didn't see from season 8, so close to 70 hours.

I thought the Commonwealth arc was worth watching... the Whisperers shows how Negan became more "human" especially how he helps Judith as well as taking down Alpha

Now that I am on summer vacation I am catching up on TWD. Just finished season 10. It was terrific and one of the best seasons IMHO. The Negan episode was outstanding. Starting season 11. I am really excited now for Dead City and the other spinoffs.

Maybe I should catch up on FTWD next instead of The Last of Us.

I think they ended TWD well, and definitely a good set up for Dead City.

Where did you leave off at Fear? Last season was 1) an obvious Covid situation but 2) some bad character assassination, and for me, was really bad. Iguess if you need to catch up...but not like when Morgan first came

I still don't get why Maggie would work with Negan after what he did to Glen....
Based on the trailer it seems clear she needs help to rescue Herschel, and Negan is the best option available, especially since he seems to have history with the villain who has captured Herschel. And while Maggie certainly isn't forgetting or forgiving what Negan has done, he does live by a code and can be trusted to a certain extent. In this case, we know Negan does not believe in harming children and will likely take a dim view towards Herschel's kidnapping. It's a matter of convenience and I'm sure Maggie will be more than happy to split ways from Negan once Herschel is rescued.

Not sure I’m going to watch this one. I’ve been on and off for Fear, and eventually quit. Still haven’t seen the final season of TWD, just sitting on my DVR. Just feels like it all ran out of steam years ago…

Frankly, I found that Walking Dead ran out of real dramatic steam around Season 4 or so. The 2 (soon to be 4) spin-offs confirmed it and them deliberately avoiding the comic ending shows this because adapting that would've made it hard to care about spin-offs.

I'd go with The Last of Us if I was you, it's way better than FTWD has ever been.

I'm watching it right now, and I'm enjoying it, so I don't know if I'd say it's bad, but it's definitely not one of their better seasons.
