Spoilers The Roddenberry Archive brings every iteration of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise bridge to life

Well we saw in a no-longer-on-youtube morning chat show thing that lots more sets were modified for the STIV 1701-A than we saw. Corridors were given red carpets, and engineering had a green intermix chamber made of neon lights. No idea if it was for the chat show or planned for the next movie but it'd be cool to explore.

I only heard that the full bridge set was built, even though only the back quarter was seen on film. But then, the other segments were used for other ships, like the Saratoga and Yorktown, among others seen on the big screens at SFHQ

Oh, it'd be cool to see the SFHQ set too :D

i will sell most, if not all of my internal organs if you combine these awesome assets with interactive characters we know and love, a 1:1 in-universe galaxy and adaptive, personal storylines all brought to life by the magic of ai and future immersive technologies. mark my words, interactive "holodeck" programs will happen! *poke otoy*

I would love that too.

A long term goal of scanning in the actors in character w/ uniforms + volumetrically recreating key scenes from page to the screen would be to eventually have the means for populated holodeck like experiences (likely hosted by Majel's voice which she recorded for Rod back in '08). So far we have successfully created some volumetric shots based on scenes in the Cage (when Bob Butler was on set), and select TOS/TAS eps, plus a few shots from the TMP era films. These could be viewed on future light field panels, or perhaps the Apple headset with some further work.

Down the line, we may be in a better position to experiment with plausible LLM powered crew within these scenes - perhaps in a TMP Enterprise first since those interiors are planned to be fully realized ahead of the others.

aahh, that sounds really cool. for me the characters have always been the very core of star trek and i truly think one of the most valuable aspects of future immersive entertainment is the possibility of actually being able to talk to and interact with characters in a personal and meaningful way. i am certain technological advances in the next decade will make new and exciting things like this possible.

yes, i am really grateful the archive exists and i am so excited to see how it will evolve in the coming years. thank you to all the incredibly talented people involved! keep up the beautiful work. perhaps we will meet at quark's one day for some prune juice =)

Seriously? My understanding was that they did a hasty redress of half the bridge :wtf:

I too believed that only the part of the bridge seen was painted (which began with Lora Johnson's set tour account for the making of Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise), until a photo of Gene and Majel appeared showing the front was painted too. It's always possible the rest was painted following Lora's tour?
As for the rest, I can imagine the neon green florescent light intermix chamber being a holdover from III, where we never saw the core itself just light from it. Perhaps it was a cheap easy corner cut as the mechanism for the intermix shaft was quite complex. Or maybe it and the red corridor carpets were to be Excelsior interiors?

Great point. We do get a glimpse of the Excelsior's interior in TSFS (during the "up your shaft" scene) and it certainly looks like it's part of engineering, with the warp core just out of shot to the left.

I never really noticed while watching, but seen out of context that set is so cheap and plain looking! :(

Wide open spaces hit at Excelsior’s size.
Enterprise really isn’t that big.

I can’t believe I just said that.

By 1979, Cygnus, Draconia, BSG and ISDs just ruined everything:)
