1. A Quality of Mercy
2. Spock Amock
3. Momento Mori
Honorable Mention: Strange New Worlds

Really, they are all quite good except for "Serene Squall" which was an absolute mess, and "Lift Us Up" which I just found boring and uninspired in a S7 TNG sort of way.

In no particular order: Ghosts of Illyria, Spock Amok, Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach. Would throw in the pilot if I could have one more.

Not a fan of new Trek generally but this has been my favourite from what I've seen (though to confess, I don't think I watched Discovery after a few episodes into season 2??)

Spock Amok, The Serene Squall and All Those Who Wonder.

It's really tough to pick. Am I the only one who really likes The Serene Squall? I thought Jesse James Keitel was excellent.

I (unfortunately) thought it was one of the worst episodes of Trek produced in the modern era. JJK was good up until the big "villain reveal" when the character plunged into torpey awfulness that would have made a C-grade MCU villain blush.

Different strokes, of course, but "Serene Squall" for me is bottom-of-the-barrel Trek in a series that is otherwise quite wonderful. I'm glad others like it, though. Part of what makes Star Trek awesome is how diverse the stories and the tones of those stories can be. I know I'm not going to love them all!

Maybe my next rewatch will be "Squall". I watched the winner, so maybe it's time for the other end.
I might do the same for momento mori. When my 4k set comes I'll do another rewatch of the entire season.

I feel enough time has been given after the end of the season for us to look back fondly on the episodes that we liked most or we found most memorable. I did a re-watch and these were the ones that stood out most for me

1.) Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach
This was very well done and the ending had a twist that I did not see coming. It's also one that stayed with me long after.
2) All Those Who Wander
I love episodes with suspense and this one had it in spades.
3.) The Elysian Kingdom
When the episode started I didn't think I was going to like it. But the humor grew on me and the ending almost had me in tears.

Honorable mention: Strange New Worlds
A very solid first episode that sold me on the series.

What are the three that stood out most for you and which ones do you think will become that "classic" episode that fans will still be talking about years later?

The ones I have rewatched the most:

1. Spock Amok
2. Memento Mori
3. All Those Who Wander

Honorable mention to “Children of the Comet”

“Spock Amok” was just a delightfully comic episode. I enjoyed the interaction between Spock and T’Pring, Spock and Chapel, and Una and La’an.

I liked the show’s take on the Gorn and the Aliens mash up, so both the latter episodes were favorites.

“Children of the Comet” really highlights Uhura and tells a classic Trek story.

The only two I never watched again were Lift Us Where Suffering Does Not Reach” and “The Elysian Kingdom.”

The Serene Squall
Strange New Worlds
Spock Amok
in that order.

To be honest, I loved every episode, though The Elysium Kingdom was definitely the weakest to me. I plan to rewatch them all before the new season starts, but these are how I feel a year on from the season.

My top three are:
Memento Mori
Spock Amok
All Those Who Wander

I enjoyed most of the season overall, and will most likely be rewatching some episodes here at some point.
I actually didn't like A Quality of Mercy nearly as well as it seems a lot of people did. While I still thought it was good, it just didn't click with me like some of the other episodes.
The Elysium Kingdom, while definitely not a classic, was actually a fairly enjoyable episode for me. A lot of the characters had grown on me by that point, and it was fun to see them in a different setting. Especially Hemmer! I would have enjoyed seeing him more in the season, but it wasn't meant to be.

For me it was a decent episode that could have been much better had they just left Kirk out of it and let Pike make those decisions on his own. The point would have been made and we would have been spared the distraction that came with the poor Kirk imitation.

For me it is the ending that sealed it as a great episode. Sure the build up was strange at first, but the payoff at the end was more than satisfying. I was read children's stories as a kid so maybe that's why it holds a special place for me.

I'm terrible with episode names so I can't vote but it's.
The Balance of Terror one. Completely upended my usual anti callback/nostalgia stance. The way they went all the way down to the eyes with detail was amazing.

The child sacrifice planet was great . Nice to see someone throw their prime directive at Starfleet and also Starfleets "colonial savior" complex.

Lastly the Event Horizon/Alien homage because Star Trek rarely does horror but when it does (Empok Nor) it's great.
