News? Stories from Dubious Sources

Break out your tin foil hats guys, Midnight's Edge is back, saying that Section 31 could be a go based on California granting tax subsidies to a new CBS/Paramount project.

Why would they film it in California? No idea, unless California has some kind of a prevent a production from running away fund, in which case they'd ostensibly be retaining the PICARD crew in a comparable post.

It could just as easily be a Janeway / Seven miniseries.

Now, I'm wondering if some kind of announcement could accompany Terry Matalas and Alex Kurtzman's appearance during the PICARD IMAX event.

The odds it's this exact thing seem low, but this is the thread for this...

Considering the fact that filmmaking is considerably cheaper in Canada that if it’s set up as a Disco spinoff with that crew also needing jobs after Disco ends and that Picard ended production over a year ago with the cast and crew released, that seems a little dubious, yeah.

Wasn't there a website with all Star Trek titles and trademarks being registered etc. Maybe there's something new on there?

Besides, the only reason Picard filmed in California was because of Patrick Stewart. And even then, Stewart had actually considered Toronto anyway, there were pictures circulating in 2018 when he visited the Disco sets to see check the studio out.

Why did he finally decide he'd prefer California?

Also now that its confirmed to be a movie, Section 31's director chosen for it is Toronto based, that basically confirms that Section 31 will be shot in Toronto. Alex basically said he wanted everything live action shot in Toronto, with Picard getting an exception (although 1 scene was shot in Toronto with Riker on the bridge of a Star Ship in Season 1).

Plus they can use all the DISCOVERY and SNW sets.

Break out the salt shakers and tin foil, here's even more news from dubious sources!
  • Budget for Section 31 is $80 million
  • Budget for that CBS Los Angeles project is $76 million
  • Apparently the source was also right about YELLOWSTONE ending at season 5
:shrug::shrug::shrug:
Maybe, just maybe some kind of Janeway/Seven project gets announced at the PICARD IMAX Q&A? Or dare I say it, something Legacy?

A fun new Kelvinverse rumor from "dubious sources"
Star Trek: Forever, a made for Paramount+ streaming film, produced by Secret Hideout
Alleged director is Christopher Bryne (IMDB), who has worked on DISCOVERY, SNW, CLARICE, and even some Bryan Fuller projects. Attached production companies are Whizbang Films and Take 5 Productions, aka Frank Siracusa and John Weber, whom you may recognize from the opening executive producer credits of Star Trek series shot in Toronto. The script is said to be already completed.

I'd be more likely to believe they're willing to spend $80M on a Kelvinverse P+ movie than Section 31.
