Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I continue to wish the Excelsior-II-class had been given its own distinctive name, such as Styles-class after Captain Lawrence Styles of the first Excelsior (NCC-2000).

Hell, Constitution-III-class doesn't even make good sense to me when they admitted it is not 289 metres like the first iteration but rather 561 metres, which is comparable to the Ambassador-class. At that point, why not name it Garrett-class after Captain Rachel Garrett?

PIC season 3's supporting material even used Bill Krause's Shangri-La-class which inspired the Constitution-III design. You could give it a name to supersede Shangri-La!

Our first side view of the Apollo class, right?
Seems to have Sovereign-like nacelles and perhaps an Odyssey-esque engine section...?

The Apollo class was one of the TNG conjectural classes Okuda came up with. This ship can’t be the same class, despite what it says on the MSD. It’s supposed to be the Curiosity class per Michael Chabon.

I find his lack of Discoprise rather annoying and somewhat insulting to the cast and crew of SNW.

But, but…the Discoprise is right there. Right in front of you. Because they’re the same ship. Or so we’re supposed to believe.

BTW, what ship is that directly behind the Enterprise-E/Sovereign? And what ship is between the nuStargazer and the NX-01?

Either the SNW Enterprise or a Sombra-class starship like the one in the Gorn episode?
It's neither.

I'm not sure what it is. It has exposed warp coils on the outer nacelles and some kinda cut out on the top of the saucer. Plus the secondary hull is of a design I'm not familiar with.

My best guess is it's something from the calendar that's supposed to be a Constitution, but made in the style of the NX Class.

Then it's cool. Drexler has played around with such concepts and usually delivers interesting Connie designs. It might be related to this.

Don’t roll your eyes at me. It wasn’t my idea.
I'm just saying that it is rather telling that with everything he put up there, including 2, possibly 3, versions of the 1701, that he didn't bother to put up the Discoprise.

I guess we know Drexler won't be contributing to the SNW production.

It looks like one of the concept designs that was on the old Bandai NX-01 model-kit box, that Drexler recreated for the NX-01 Eaglemoss magazine. The top one on this image, though, as I said, he lost and rebuilt them later, and this seems to be the recreation.

As much as he doesn't like the DSC/SNW visual retcons (and he definitely doesn't, not a fan of such things in general, he even had a whole thing today about how the Roddenberry Archive's detailed-up version of the -J wasn't something he was a fan of (and I guess he decided he came off a little strong, because it's gone now, I knew I should've linked and quoted it, I was just running around all morning and didn't have time)), that being said, I think this picture is more driven by which models he had on hand. You can tell by the text that the Stargazer is his approval model with the DSC/LDS-style white markings, and the Shenzhou's color also looks like Pierre Drolet's original model before the DSC season 1 look was finalized.
