Six out of twelve or thirteen. And twelve of thirteen movies since the HMS Bounty was the hero ship of Star Trek IV and even that film ended with the introduction of the Enterprise-A. That's a pretty heavy dose of one ship name in one franchise.
So sixth, plus all three film series - whew.

I decided to count TAS as a part of TOS, and dithered over counting the movies. I made it TOS,TNG, ENT, and SNW. Picard only had it in a couple of episodes.
Giving a precise number of "lots and lots".
To be fair, it’s pretty much the definition of Star Trek. Right there in the opening monologue.
And if you really go by the dialogue of the scene, and Picard's reaction - you get the idea that THAT was the original intent (to rename it the USS Picard) - and Matalas for whatever reason changed his mind.
Because honestly - Jean-Luc Picard has always thought of the USS Stargazer as 'his ship' (he affirmed that to Scotty in TNG S6 Relics; and again at the start of season 2 of PICARD when he came aboard the USS Stargazer A); so yeah, the reaction to seeing the Titan - A renamed to the Enterprise - G in that scene just doesn't fit the character.
Yeah it got me too.
But it's since been pointed out on twitter a few times now that G is the 7th letter of the alphabet, and it's Starfleet's 9th Enterprise (as Frontier Day kind of emphasises about the NX-01), and now with Seven of Nine in command. I'm pretty certain that was actually a factor the writers considered and probably couldn't resist going for that level of cheese.
No - from Terry matalas own Twitter it's pretty clear he made the final call, like he did with everything in that final episode. He wanted his stamp on TNG and I honestly think that because the 1701-F came from a video game - and there was no longer a 1701-E (due to something Worf did, but I think MORE to explain why the 1701-E which saved the Federation from the most recent Borg incursion: 1) Wasn't also in the Fleet museum; and 2) Why it wasn't the ship Geordi was taking out of mothballs to face this major Borg threat because as Worf even said, "It's better armed...)
So yeah, in the end, this was Terry Matalas and the Star Trek Franchise proper taking BACK the Federation Flagship from a video game (Star Trek Online) by making the USS Titan A into the USS Enterprise 1701-G.
The problem is, aside from Picard finding out he had a son, and the resultant events being a convoluted mess, Matalas brought little new to the TNG era in Season 3. I was still entertained, but how much of it was callbacks and rehashes? 85%?
There was so much potential with Picard.
I find it interesting I've been more frustrated with the current live action shows than the animated shows. I take them all seriously. But I think there's a freshness the animated shows have. Maybe it's the literal colours? The live action shows are quite dark. I'm sure this plays a part in how I feel about them. Not every TV show needs to look like a small movie.
