Hell, why not keep using the Enterprise-D —it’s so old and outdated that it stomped the fricking Borg and kept working when the rest of the fleet didn’t.

The one from season 2? Or the one at the Fleet Museum from "The Battle"?

Because Matalas liked Bill Krause’s Shangri-La class and made a new ship that looks just like it.

We were supposed to forget that weird shit on the Stargazer. The Shaw said so.

Well if the end of the season was going to be the Titan becoming the Ent-G then they would have wanted a ship that looked more traditionally Enterprise shaped.

Personally I didn't like the Stargazer from Pic S2 much, It's too complicated a design like a lot of the Discovery S1 ships. I do like the Titan/Ent G, despite the retro lines.

Of course anything is better than the hideous ships from Disco S3 & 4. That's when they should have gone retro. The effects of the Burn and the reduced size of the Federation causing them to build smaller, less sophisticated ships. They could have even dusted off some of the old designs.

Thankfully Starfleet has more than one ship...

Only about the Borg. I remember all the other stuff.

Nice try, Matalas! You're mind tricks won't work on me.

Starfleet is a big fan of waste, it seems. It's why we're all the way up to the Enterprise-G and Voyager-B and all that. They throw away ships at a moment's notice.

Which really makes no sense, ships like this should last for decades.

When you live in an era of nigh-limitless resources such things are not considered. Consider how disposable our current culture is. Now imaging being able to go to a replicator and change devices at the drop of a hat.

Replicators be damned. There's no such thing as limitless resources. I don't care how "post-scarcity" this future is, waste is still waste.

Of time, for example. If nothing else, Starfleet is wasting TIME having to build and rebuild all these new ships. Why abandon one if it still works? Wasted time. Wasted effort.

They haven't built Archer Spacedock YET... ;)

Now of course something horrible could have happened to, for example, the Enterprise-E. (It's hinted at, with Worf's "not my fault" comment.) So if that happened a while ago, then the Enterprise-F could have had a long career of its own. I'm totally down with that.

    Guess we'll never know... :sigh:

like everything else do to with Season 2, it was persona-non-grata'd before it ever even finished airing.

That can't be it. Look at the NX-01 or the ENT-D ;)
