Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Basically it went like this:

Why are all the NewTek bridges so dark and black

Then people said you can't do 90s style bridges anymore it's outdated

That's been debunked now
I think the Abrams Films and SNW already debunked it.

Never did I say bright lighting didn't work today, though. (Other people might've, but I never did.) I just don't have a problem with dark lighting.

The inside of the Enterprise-D still reminds me of the inside of the '78 Ford Fairmont my parents had when I was a kid. Down to the beige interior and the leather seats that felt extremely hot in the summer because I was wearing short-shorts.

"It's not 1989 anymore you can't just have a brightly lite broad lighting with tans and browns it's 2023 it has to be all dark and black!!!!"
Darker, cinematic lighting is better. The old ship was an homage, so it's fine but it looks out of place.

My problem is when they layer blacks on black, then add a gray color grade on the picture. This is what season 3 did. Smears of gray-black.

When I saw the SNW trailer I wanted to kiss my TV but that would be unseemly, and I have a reputation to keep.

Yeah the layer thing makes sense.

It looks terrible and I can't see who is who

The TNG bridge looks good because it's drenched in memberberry syrup..thats about it
Well, it also looks good because the only time it looked better was Generations. Both here and there were WAY more cinematic than during the show.

And while all of the nuTrek bridges are DAAAAARK there is a difference even between Disco and the Titan (DAAAAAAAAAAAARK) and Pike's SNW bridge (mostly dark).

The Pikeprise bridge feels reasonable for an actual ship.

The Titan and Stargazer bridge feels more like a Dark Side Applestore

For the record: I thought it was nice seeing the Enterprise-D bridge, but it wasn't my favorite and still isn't my favorite.

My favorite bridges are the TUC Bridge and the DSC Bridge. I like the E-E bridge better than the E-D bridge, but it wouldn't have given the feel they were going for here. The E-D bridge looks extremely different from the Titan's bridge. It's a sharp contrast between "now" and "then". With the Enterprise-E bridge, there wouldn't have been enough of a difference.
