Only one Star Wars streaming series has looked theatrical and that's Andor, and even it doesn't look as expensive as one of the Sequel Trilogy movies.

None of the streaming SW series look or feel like films. They look like any other streaming series of this era, and bears little resemblance to the scope and style of the OT.

Agreed; Section 31 as a concept was never what its creators wanted it to be; I feel so many ST writers have no idea how to write that kind of story, much less understand the concept. Like you, I have no interest in Section 31 no matter the format. The great thing about getting Michelle Yeoh to do this is that she did STAR TREK before getting all these awards, and pretty much the first thing after them... she wants to go do more STAR TREK.

That sends a great message to other high profile, award winning actors and actresses... there are a lot of them that are fans of the franchise, but are simply too expensive to be approached seriously by the producers. This might actually make them come to the producers for a change... they might even be willing to settle for a dollar value not quite as high as what they would normally receive. (That is probably more wishful thinking on my part, but I'll take that small chance.)

Definitely wishful thinking. To do so would screw their chances of getting their normal wage the next project they went to do. At most, they were really serious about wanting to do Trek but Trek couldn't afford to pay them their usual fee, they'd go without a listing in the credits. In a strict legal sense, that makes it look like they weren't on the show, meaning they can accept a lower wage without it hurting future negotiations. Which is the exact situation with Frank Langella when he was on DS9 and why he wasn't credited.

Studios aren't typically a fan of doing this since if they can't list the actor in the credits, they also can't mention the actor in the promotional material, which essentially negates the whole purpose of having a big name actor.

I'd argue Trek is in the best place it's been since the early 90s when you had the TOS-era finishing up on a strong note, TNG in its prime, DS9 just starting, and VOY in development.

We now have five different shows, some ending but with more on the way, all of them markedly distinct from one another in terms of tone, setting, style, etc. There's truly a Trek show for everyone (well, almost everyone...) - PLUS there are TV movies coming up. It's a very exciting time especially compared to the early 2010s when we had nothing but the Kelvin movies and purely hypothetical TV shows to discuss.

Even the ones who are in favor of the current state of the franchise should at least have noticed, that reception towards Picard S3 was exceptionally good.

S03E10 received a 9.6 on IMDB, this is „BobW“ territory and overall it is (currently) the best rated Trek episode of all times.
