Spoilers An argument that the problem with the first two seasons was...

Jeri Ryan is not an A-list actress. If she gets a job on a major streaming show, she will most likely take it without nagging about the screenplay.
None of them are, save Stewart, and even his star is setting.

But they are all central to Trek Fandom, and many who want the Legacy series imagine Seven becoming captain.

Did you actually see episode 9?

Showing a middle aged chemistry teacher become a drug lord isn’t particularly innovative either. The way they presented the show, the cinematography, the screenwriting, the acting. This is what makes great and innovative tv. Stories get rehashed all the time it is a necessary evil, since most plotlines have already been told by other shows/movies.

2010-2020 was considered the golden age of television because of its quality storytelling. Discovery never reached this form of artistic elegance. Mainly because Kurtzman isn’t a good showrunner, he lacks vision.

Matalas did great with 12 monkeys. Give him the helm…

When Breaking Bad was launched, that had no idea how that show was going to land and some felt it was going to be a complete flop. As with all good fresh material, it was usually coined by one or two people with a vision, some clever screenwriting, good debutant acting and so-forth. A new show working up to get some penetration in a very tough entertainment market.

Star Trek on the other hand is a much larger and complex machine, a much wider exposure to a global audience and under constant pressure from the most vocal of fans, the media, commercial & political interests. The studio execs mandating more market share by driving producers to 'get with the times' with the younger diverse casting and the scripting which brings a more Gen-Z relatable dialog and even more action.

I'm afraid to say that the majority of the audience/market does not want quality storytelling, continuity or enlightenment... they want instant gratification. Aslong as Paramount / CBS still own the Trek franchise, it will continue to produce content for that purpose, no matter if Kurtzman is involved or not.

I’m sorry but unless someone is talking about what happens after their alarm clock goes if I can’t take anything seriously after using the word “woke”.
We're they not awakened to attack the big tool of empire, the fleet itself?

Disco was a financial and artistic disaster. The vast majority of viewers consider Disco to be a failed project
Such a disaster it got 5 seasons and enjoys a nice sized fanbase, with some among them dating back to original TOS viewers. Just because a loud subset of fans don’t like it (totally fine) AND spend inordinate amounts of time shitting all over it like toddlers having a tantrum over a different flavour of mashed carrots (rather asinine behaviour), doesn’t make it a failure.

If they don’t have much more than Star Trek and Paramount+ has 55million subscribers, why are they subscribing?

Also…

Yellowstone has entered the chat.
Yellowstone’s spin-offs have entered the chat.
I have a friend who subscribed just for the original South Park content. Can Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman enter the chat?

Other times, HIMYM debuted in 2005 and was a huge success. Nowadays they don’t have much more than Star Trek…

Just was thinking about this as I was a huge HIMYM fan. The show averaged 8-10milliom viewers per season with the final season being the largest win. Up until the mid 3rd season when Britney Spears guest starred, the show was consistently on the bubble for cancellation. One could also argue, creatively, the show went on about three seasons too long. But to each his own on that one.
